Went to enquire on eyebrow embroidery yesterday.

This salon at Far East Plaza do double eyelids too. However, its called "clipping", no surgery involved, you'll have a choice of the number of "clips". The more clips, the more deep set your eyes will look. The whole procedure takes only about 45 mins. The principal also mentioned that its permanent.. The cost is about $2000 for 2 clips.

Any cotter has tried or heard of this before? I'm tempted but feeling insecure about it. Any views or experience to share? TIA

Btw, this clipping is a no-knife approach and it should be done by plastic surgeons. Not all plastic surgeons offer this double eyelids procedure though because some of them prefer the permanent cut method.

I've enquired with Dr Martin Huang and Woffles Wu before and they both do this procedure in their clinics.

This procedure is not exactly permanent and is reversible. It tends to "disappear" after years and you will have to get it redone. Both doctors mentioned to me that younger patients are more suitable for this procedure because they have "elasticity" and less fats in their eyelids. It heals much faster (abt 2 weeks) than the permanent cut surgery.

My friends and her colleagues have done the clipping method at beauty salons too but I would still think it's safer if you have it done by a plastic surgeon. It involves your eyes afterall and you would want a trained person to do it. Some plastic surgeons have even modified the procedure slightly to make it safer and achieve better results. Since the procedure at the beauty salon is already $2k, why not pay a little more to have it done at a plastic surgery clinic? If I rem correctly, the last time I asked, Dr Martin Huang quoted about $3k so you might be able to find other established doctors who do it for $2k odd.

Christie, Thanks for your clear explanation!

Ya, what you've said do make sense... going to a qualified surgeon will give me more assurance...

Oh, didnt know that it's reversible? She told me it's permanent... hmmm having second thoughts on her words Shall ask around again..

What's "clipping"? If it's non-knife surgery, then what do they use to set the line? How is it done? Will the line be very obvious like plastic surgery?

Yep, Dr Martin Huang quoted 3k the last time I went. I'd rather let surgeons do it than to let beauty salon do it because it is my face we're talking about. I would like more assurance.

I've decided to do my double eyelid when I'm back in Singapore and I would think Dr Martin Huang looks more approachable than Woffles Wu. Haha. It's just comfort level. Haha.

i did my double eyelid surgery about 4 or 5 years ago. I'll try to recall what i did for those of you ok?

Dr Fong (Acadia laser and surgicentre) was the plastic surgeon who did it for me. His clinic used to be at THomson Medical but has since moved to Tan Tock Seng. He's really friendly and fatherly. i was told fann wong went to him eons ago to have hers done, donno true or not.

I paid about $1800 and took only 7 to 14 days to recover. Dr. Fong used both laser and cutting method. There are few different methods and i'm not sure which is the best. Bring along a pair of dark sunglasses and don't panic as your eyes will look really swollen and puffy for at least 2 weeks.

My eyes are very natural-looking after 1 month plus and ALL my friends were really impressed with some of them went to him to have theirs done. My harshest critic, my hubby, even commented that the $$$ spent was really worth it after the surgery.

I do get pissed off when people questioned my decision to have my eyes done. For that i always retort: "F*%# you la. Its my body and my face. i have to live with it and look at it everyday. If it makes me happy so be it."

I don't advocate plastic surgery if you want to look better to please someone other than yourself or blindly "correcting" a "fault" that its really not there. I always advise my friends to spend a bit more time & $$$ and go for consultation. Talk to the surgeon, get a feel and see if you have rapport with him. Don't be pushed into signing up.

FYI, i'm not impressed with some of the so-called famous plastic surgeons. Hope i have helped.
