I finally went to lipo my butt and thighs!!!!
Big butts are a family curse for the females in my mother's clan. My butt is disproportionately huge compared to the rest of my body. Been trying to get rid of my fats by exercising because all along I think that surgery is rather drastic and expensive, but I guess .... eventually, circumstances and research have made me impatient to see faster results. I am one of those unfortunate ones who will just get fat by sitting down all day, even if my diet does not change much. And my fats and cellulite are clumped stubbornly around my butt and upper thighs, so that I dun look good in jeans ... I(screams) want to wear jeans and short skirts!!!!! And yes...I have tried less drastic methods like meso ... hated the numerous injections (and swolleness) each session and most imptly...it hardly took centimetres off my thighs... all pain no gain Traditional liposuction??? Too expensive and risky... I might have to be hospitalized on top of it... and the recovery time is horrible...and I have read about how it can cause lumpiness... the suction is not very even....arghhh Laserlipo??? My doc says it only works for people with less fat to lose...for people like me...whose butt and thighs merge into almost a linear line... this method wont take away a lot of fat... I would have to go for more than 1 session...and then it would be expensive...(each session costs around S$2500...I might need 2 to 3 sessions) Finally I chanced upon Vaser...(the clinic is at China Square) which is like a hybrid of traditional lipo and laserlipo. Takes off more fat than laserlipo and less risky than traditional lipo. Advantages: 1. no hospitalization 2. minimal scarring 3. permanent fat loss (unless i binge) Disadvantages: it costs $3500 per body area :wow: (thought there is a slight discount) The doctor tried to be as informative as possible and there was no pressure selling. He seemed to be quite experienced (cos a lot of forumers have gone to him). And you can see that he has been quite successful in his field (note: the inteior deco, his TAg Huer watch, free promotional materials) .....so .... I made the decision to go under the...suction tube... I was very tense during the surgery. At first it hurt a lot cos I was still conscious and nervous despite the local anaesthetic, and man it really hurt!!! I was like, "Why don't you give me more anaesthetic?" but after the 2nd dose, I lost consciousness and didnt feel anything until after everything was over. Today is the 1st day AFter the surgery... ACtually immediately after the surgery I can see that the cellulite around my hips are gone. But I hurt like hell. There are large patches of brusies and my thighs are totally swollen. So swollen that they feel numb. When I walk ,I hurt. When I stretch, I hurt. When I toss on my bed, I hurt. (Sigh ~ the price of vanity) But what is good is that the bleeding from my stitches is quite minimal (lucky me!) so that I am not using the wire gauze the clinic gave me (they are bulky and I am not good at all in dressing wounds). Instead I am using ordinary Handiplast and Band-Aid. The bleeding was bad immediately after the surgey, such that I stained my bedsheets (large patches too) last night, but less than 1 day post-surgery, I hardly need to change my plasters (hee..hee) I hope I can go to work tomorrow! without my colleagues noticing my strange gait!!! Right now I am walking bow-legged and very slowly cos it hurts. But i can still grit my teeth and do housework, grocery shopping, shower, etc. Ohya...the doc's wife (his assistant) was very kind too. Cos I am one of those who get dizzy spells after injections and blood tests, I was very very dizzy after the surgery. She was very patient with me, rubbed ointment on my forehead and helped me call a cab. She asked her sister to accompany me to the taxi-stand, who helped me get into the taxi. Then this afternoon she actually called me up to check on me and reminded me to take my medication. I am looking forward to seeing a slimmer body after the swelling goes away (right now my thighs look bigger than they used to!) and after the post-surgery RF treatments. Good luck to me! Of cos I have realistic expectations....I still have to continue my exercise and watch my diet...but seeing some results will definitely spur me on to maintain a svelte figure... PS: for those who want a female doc... a clinic at Thomson Plaza now offers the same service... I might have gone to her...but I already made my appt with the China Square doc...not nice to cancel suddenly... |

Days 3 - 7 are hellish.
Maybe its because of my impatient nature, which compelled me to lipo 2 large areas at once, so I suffer double the pain other patients undergo. I went back to the doc's to remove my stitches yesterday. He had just carried out the same procedure on his mother-in-law ( how convenient it is to have a cosmetics surgeon as your SIL....everything FOC! )Thanks for the concern you gals have shown me. My incisions have healed pretty well. No infections, etc. BUT other than that... 1. Appearance: My thighs are pretty swollen and bruised. They are still larger than what they used to be. The bruises have become worse. They span almost the entire length of my inner and outer thighs. They range from the darkest purple to the lightest pink, depending on the amount of blood clot beneath the surface I think. (I was reassured that these would need another 1 to 2 weeks to subside) 2. Sleep: Besides the ugliness, the swelling and bruising makes it difficult for me to adopt any other sleeping position beside facing skywards. If I sleep on either Left or Right side, the swelling and bruises hurt so much that I wake up. In fact, even getting up from the chair or toilet seat is painful. My advice is to sit on cushioned areas (not so painful...but I can't possibly pad the toilet seat ) 3. Lifestyle: I was advised not to "participate in strenuous exercise" for at least a week. I find that it is not a matter of choice whether I want to continue exercising or not. I can't even walk at my normally fast speed because when I walk, the swelling and bruises are so painful that every movement feels as though my thighs are slapped hard. So I have been walking slowly from Point A to Point B for the past one week. Jogging is out of the question. So are my yoga classes. In short, if anyone wants to go for liposuction, you must be mentally prepared to suffer the above torments. I am basically waiting for the swelling and bruises to go away before I can assess how much slimmer I have become (i.e. whether the surgery was worthwhile). I wouldn't recommend everyone to take such drastic measures. As I said, for me, I really wanted to lose the fats around the stubborn areas (esp my huge butt) and I wanted instant results (personal reasons). As a last note, always go for registered doctors, and never believe in beauty salons that tout high-tech equipment, because no matter how advanced they claim their machines to be, the equipment used by beauty therapists will NEVER be as precise/ powerful as those used by registered doctors. |

wow beastincage, kudos to you... i think as usual, the 2 main factors that are keepng people away from lipo is $$ and pain. And gosh, i felt 'scared' just by reading your account of "bruised thighs"..." blood clots".. really making me think more on having lipo....
will you be able to post some pics of whatever to share with us?? meanwhile, hope you're getting on fine and beautiful... |

I remember watching a programe on MTV Asia, they help people to do plastic surgery to look a super star. One girl under went liposuction, the procedure look so scary. The doctor just suck and suck fats out from the body, there is lots of blood and fats in a continer, saw a few continue during this procdure. The next day, the girl bed is all stained with blood, cant walk without assistant, think going to the bathroom is the worse....after a few weeks of recovery, she is a happy girl, satified with the result...
I think i dont have this kind of courage to undergo this....kudos to you beastincage |
