Hi Kido, it's good to see that you're doing well. I'm sure you'll be up and about in no time!
Just wondering: how do we check for breast lumps? I'm quite big on top (C cup) and it's difficult feeling for lumps.
Don't worry about your previous food intake since nothing can be undone.
I had beef after laproscopy & D&C (ate fish for 2 days but kept throwing up cause the therapy I underwent after op wreck my tastebuds & smell). Needed it as I was anaemic after op. I don't have any problems with wound healing & my scars were flat & nice.
There's no difference comparing these scars with the ones I had for my knee op (I went vegetarian for that op)
indeed, i also found pte clinic/hospital has nice personalized service... when i removed my 5 breast lumps last time, 1 hr after i discharged fm mt A, one of the hospital staff nurses called me and asked me if i hv reached home safely and remind me of my appt with my doc...
jus curious, how many days mc did ur doc give u?
I've also gone for a check up and found that i have a lump there. The doc said that it's fibroedenoma and it's up to me if i want to remove it or not.. Any suggestions? Is it better to have it remove? Cos i understand that another lump may appear again even if i had this remove. Isn't this an never ending process then?
Anyone know if the size of the breast will be reduce after the operation?
BTW, anyone know if this is a symtom that one may have a higher chance of developing breast cancer in the furture?
Thanks
Snowcube,
I was detected with a lump few months ago. Doc also gave me the option to remove or not. My decision is to keep it for 6 months to see if it disappears on it own. If your decision is to keep it, you have to monitor it carefully to make sure that it does not change in size or any abnormalities.
Hi ladies,
Would like to check with you where can I get a mammogram done? I tried doing it at the polyclinic but they said i have to be 40 years old to qualify.
purpletots,
mammogram is not recommended for women below 40 ys old. the density of breasts changes with age. younger, pre-menopausal women have denser breast tissues, so it is possible to mistake the normal breast tissue for cancer and will lead to false 'positive' results.
older or post-menopausal women have breast tissues which are less dense, so the cancers are better seen on the mammogram. if u have a family history of breast cancer, u may go for mammography b4 40 yrs old and u can do in pte breasts clinics or hospitals.
btw, hv u do an ultrasound breast scanning 1st?
Hi Purpletots,
You can try KK hospital. I think they have some mammogram packages that u can consider.
hi poochi,
i m a cup B but u can really feel it.
just lie flat, if u are checking ur right breast, place ur right hand behind ur neck
then using ur left fingers, use maybe the index, middle and ring finger, go in circular motions from ur aereola all the way to your aarmpits... doing it every month , u'll b an expert in no time.
if u are not sure if u are not doing the correct technique. the next time u c a doc, ask him/her to teach and guide u.
twinky the doc gave me a week of mc.
and surprisingly my company says that i can claim the surgical bills!!!
i m trying to do it. hopefully it is possible and i'll be so relieved from spending that 3000 bucks.
btw the time when i went for the surgery, it was about 1.2cm the lump but the doc says the ultrasound which was done 1 week before the surgery was less than 1cm... but she says its ok coz we were taking it out...
i find it wierd how it could grow so fast... not sure if it was becoz i kept touching it and encouraging it to grow? but i m glad its out... have one more tiny lump to worry about though leaving it there for the moment...
snowcube.
according to my doc, many gals have fibroedenoma and its very common. she says its alright to leave it there but u just need to keep following up with the doc.
she says as compare to all other cells in the breast, any fibroedenoma has the chance to develop into cancerous like any other normal cells if they want to. so if u leave it or take it out also same. so a fibroedenoma is the same as any other normal cell in ur breast.
but i wanted to take it out. becoz no matter what the doc had said and assure me, i still dun feel good have a lump in my breast. i keep touching it and feeling all wierd to have it inside me, so i decided to take it out to relieve my psychological anxiety.
pottie,
the scar wasnt that bad, it is really small...
not noticeable. i plan to apply vit e cream when i can... religiously ... heard it will help with scarring?
but a nurse fren of mine give me some sterile strips to keep the wound tape and close. she says... the scar will be "prettier" and i have to do it from abt minimum 3 to 6 mths...i m gg to listen to her...
kido,
think u should be able to claim the bills through ur company's insurance policy... check with ur hr dept...
is ur doc good? i think i hv a new lump in my breast again and i dun intend to go back to my last doc... he has alot of patients and i usually hv to wait for 1 hr+... can u pm ur doc details to me? thanks.
I've got lumps too.
I went for ultrasound every year.
I just did last mth for the 3rd time.
Doc told me it's fibroedenoma also.
It's my choice to remove or leave them
Leaving them for 3 years i think.
I duno whether i should have them remove or what ...
Is it really a common lumps and some of the women might got it.
kido, how is the surgery? How long and is it painful?
twinky,
Oh no... not again? yeah dr mona is really nice and personalized. so u can imagine the consultation and everything is also quite ex. each op is calculated by per lump...
thats y i only took out 1... =) but still i thk she is highly recommended.
anyway will place her clinic details here, i guess some of the ladies here may need it too? i'm not sure.
