    Default D-I-Y hair colour

Dear pretty ladies, I m thinking of colouring my hair soon but not sure which D-I-Y hair kit has nice visible shades and is not drying. Most importantly, colour will not fade.Am thinking of the Gatsby new hair kit or Loreal range, any comments on these or any other recommendations??I want some ash brown colour or whichever colour can make my hair look lighter in texture( my hair always look heavy by end of the day!)Thanksss!

p/s moderators..the topic i asked is hair colour and not treatment?y isit merged?

Hi there, I DIY-ed colour my hair before and I love the products from Garnier (sp?) . It's the one in the green box. Gives shiny vibrant hair colour but may be drying in the long run (as is all permanent color).

I swinged by Watsons just now and Garnier has a new range of colours, seems to me that the colours are more Jappy-like. Very nice! Will try one day. Anyway I am too broke to visit Shunji for color at the moment... HTH!

Caution: DO NOT buy Loreal OPEN. The colours are not vivid at all and I had to colour over again with Garnier the next day

Edited to add: All hair colour fades after sometime. Reds will fade to light yellowish brown ( unhealthy look). You can let it fade SLOWER but you cannot STOP it from fading. A shampoo meant for coloured hair may help to slow down fading.

Light flowey texture can be achieved by a combination of a good cut + colour. Colour alone I'm afraid cannot create the feel of a light texture. Choice of colour is also important.

I always use either L'Oreal 3D or Excellence. I prefer the shades from there and I always believe L'Oreal hair dyes leave hair softer hehe...

Hi, mayb i can give my two cents worth, I had used DIY hairdye a few times, & I think Loreal feria with colour booster have the most richest colour, I dyed red colour & it ws quite obvious compared to others... Hope that helps!

I've had good luck with Loreal Excellence Creme. Discovered this after a disaster with a Revlon coloring kit that made me go when I was finished with it.

I use Medium Reddish Brown, and on my hair, it looks like brown with red highlights, which is exactly the look I was going for.

used that once to dye my highlighted hair black (it turned out light brown and gradually fades to an even lighter colour..)

i ended up with much much lighter hair with it.

    L'oreal 3D is good.
I didn't like garnier though. And Revlon is pretty damaging. :sotong:

I am a fan of loreal feria 3d too ....

Tried this colours fr feria 3d:

Silky apricot: gave me orangey hair ....not sure if its becoz I had my hair highlighted to a light brown shade at red that the colour turn up too vividly.....

Frosty beige: Nice shade of light brown, but failed to cover up the UGLY orange base that silky apricot left me...

Rosewood... finally an obvious and not so outlandish shade of brown... Like the streaky 3d effect . but not sure its really the feria "3d" effect or my previus highlights..

But i think feria 3d is a pretty neat choice if if want a DIY kit ...

thanks for merging into the hair colour thread

Riverie: Thanks for the detailed feedback..the garnier new range looks good indeed, but i went hair dye kit hunting today and did not see the shades(i am looking for ash shades, i guess it will make hair look lighter in texture?) i want from the garnier range, sigh

snow angel: I used clariol hydrience before and its pretty dryng for me

ppie and redpetal: Did u use revlon coloursilk??

chocolate:there is a kit which u can use to remove the unwanted orange tone in your hair, i read abt this colorfix in a foreign forum Colorfix
But i am not sure if its available in Sg, anyone knows?

I saw some shades i want from my hunting today from clariol nice & easy, gastby and revlon coloursilk & high dimension, which is good? Thanks
