Hi! dont worry too much
I also experience this problem like urs except for oily scalp. Also hairloss is very hard to solve. Before my stylist say i drop alot of hair(he found out when he wash my hair), I was using pantene. After that I got frightened and he ask me to use hairloss shampoo. I change so many hairloss shampoo and still no cure in my hairloss yet. all hairloss shampoo make my scalp itch and dry result in flaking and make my hair like hay! So I change to organics shampoo( make of natural ingredients), it goods but can be drying without conditioner but still can accept. I'm currently using Akin. Hairloss is still the same (I believe hairloss is normal la as my hair is v long. as long as u dont drop hair in bundle*touchwood*, it fine). I feel that my scalp not so sensitive. Maybe I recommend you to use organic shampoo and dont use shampoo that contain silicon and SLS. Hehe (actually when I wash my hair I think I dont drop too much hair and I think the stylist say I drop hair is because I think e wash my hair too hard and my hair is very weak that type)

Hi All
I also have the same problem. I noticed my white patch on top of my head beginning to be very obvious early this year (jan). I really freaked out. I was introduced minoxidil. You may get it from pharmacy (I think). But I was told (by frens & the pharmacist confirmed this) once you start using it, you have to use it for life else the hairloss issue will return. I was skeptical about it so I didnt try then. In April, i was v concerned about the white patch increasing in size hence I went to visit a skin and hair clinic at thomson medical centre. I was prescribed minoxidil 5% but i didnt confirm with the doc re: the long term usage issue. I was desperate!!! Then after 6 weeks, i was prescribed additional roll on medication (I will check the name of the med at home & post it tmr). I have been on these 2 med since april/may. I begin to see some fine hair growing. Hence the effect will take at least 2-3 mths. The price of minoxidil should be around $60 +++. Pharmacy is selling this though. The roll on med is v expensive. Is $130 for a very small bottle (i will check too). |

Hi, I was also prescribed the minoxidil by the GP. I was also scared of using it as I heard of the side effect. Does your hair loss still continue despite using the minoxidil? does the roll on medication hv the same effect as minoxidil (as in must use continuous, else hair loss resumes)? |

I noticed my top patch is getting some small fine hair growing so not so worrying.
I havent researched on the side effects of the roll on med. Btw, the roll on med is Ballvic. It is expensive. $130 for 10ml. So in the day, i use minoxidil. At nite I use ballvic. It is now in the 4th mth of using med, i did notice some improvement but it is slow though. I was desperate in getting some help for my hair so I havent thought about side effects then. Will find out more on these 2 medications. |

I have the same problem, and so do some of my friends. My problems also started using cheap shampoos like Dove and Panthene. I was using all the hair loss tonics but no use. I decided to try scalp treatment before, and they had one of this analysers which give you a microscopic enlargement of your scalp pores. They showed me that the problem was that my pores were clogged with oil. But my hair ends were very dry, because the pores were clogged and oil not getting to my hair ends. The treatments worked initially but I found after about 6 treatments, (and also I didn't go that often as each session is very expensive) the oily scalp came back. So i wanted to find a more permanent and cheaper solution.
Generally there are 2 kinds of dandruff - the dry flakey dandruff due to dry and sensitive scalp, and the oily dandruff (comes off like white bits that look like oil seeds), so have to treat the right kind of dandruff with the right shampoo. Dandruff shampoo also cannot be used forever and ever, it is very bad for the scalp. What is needed is after the problem has been fixed, to maintain with the right shampoo (sensitive scalp shampoo or oily scalp shampoo, try the rebalancing ones e.g. Redken or Loreal's saloon brands, which are supposed to redistribute your sebum from scalp to hair ends) By using Phyto (for oily scalp) daily and this australian shampoo Lorenzo (specially to 'deep cleanse' the scalp, much like a scalp cleanser) once a week it more or less solved my problem. But I changed shampoos because both these shampoos are expensive, and now my woes are back. Sigh. I am now going to try the Phyto scalp 'scrub', which functions like a facial scrub. But both these cannot be used for people with sensitive scalp. |

Hi ladies,
I too have hair loss problems.. but i started using organic shampoo and my hair is not as itchy as last time as there were loads of oil everyday which i HAD to wash my hair everyday to prevent it being oily. But sometimes can't even last 24 hours due to our weather here. But my hair dresser has said that she feels my hair like more and when i wash my hair i dun see that much hair dropping as well. What i know is that when you wash your hair, do not use hot water to wash. If you can, use room temperature or colder water. HTH! |

it abit expensive but in long term it better to get a good shampoo then keep trying n spending on other shampoo *** dun suit u at all... actually there is not so much side effect when u stop using minoxidil as *** i kwn about.. scalp is like our body,u move, it blood circulate, u dun, it will in sleeping motion ,so using minoxidil or scalp tonic u actually stimulate it then u see hair grow ..of cos u aso need to hv good shampoo to clean ur scalp probably.. |
