i've already checked avalon shampoo at natures farm...iirc,its selling at $15.90 but i don't see that its especially formulated for oily scalp or hair loss problem.. well i think in my case my oily scalp is the cause of my hair loss..

I used to have oily scalp dry ends. But my oily scalp is now under control from the use of Klorane shampoo. It's the green bottle with the seboregulating treatment label on it. I think I got it at around $15 from Guardian pharmacy. It's non-foaming by the way and meant only to be massaged into the scalp for a few minutes before rinsing off.

Use Secret Professional by Phyto or Lakme... these are some of the brands that helps to prevent hairloss and doesn't cause dandruff...

hi kny4eva,

i'm considering to try avalon or klorane. i think if it helps to control scalp oil, the hair loss should be less?? what abt the other 2 shampoos that u have in mind? the rene & vitan?

I have been using Avalon Biotin B complex for a couple of days, it seems that oil production control is so-so only. I must still wash my hair at least once in any 16 hr period (i.e. if I wash at 8pm by 12 noon it'd be oily already). I only see slight improvement from my previous shampoo, now still trying to monitor.

miztgral: really?i think for those who have oily scalp like me,need to make sure that our scalp is not clogged cos this will prevent hair growth(hair consultant told me )..do u also use the conditioner?

one question girls...if i'm using shampoo from a particular brand,is it a must to use conditioner from the same brand cos from what i know conditioner doesn't really play a part in ur scalp..correct me if i'm wrong

according to carol, no need. she did not recommend me rene furterer conditioner. she said the conditioner are so so only and do not justify for the high price.

she recommend that i try a kose brand and ask me go to chinatown shops like ocean and a few bigger shops there to shop around for the best price..

Well I'm just saying it doesn't help to control my oily scalp. Maybe not yet. Nothing to do with clogged pores. Of course, too much oil will lead to clogged pores eventually because the oil will trap and mingle with dust in the air to clog the pores.

Yes I am using the conditioner as well because my hair tangles very easily. I like the condition, it makes my hair very smooth.

I think as far as possible use products from the same range because, this is a personal belief, at least the ingredients won't "clash". When you use products from different ranges you don't really know if the active ingredients might cancel out each other or worse, combine to produce toxins.

In April, i was v concerned about the white patch increasing in size hence I went to visit a skin and hair clinic at thomson medical centre.

I was prescribed minoxidil 5% but i didnt confirm with the doc re: the long term usage issue. I was desperate!!! Then after 6 weeks, i was prescribed additional roll on medication (I will check the name of the med at home & post it tmr).

I have been on these 2 med since april/may. I begin to see some fine hair growing. Hence the effect will take at least 2-3 mths.

The price of minoxidil should be around $60 +++. Pharmacy is selling this though.
The roll on med is v expensive. Is $130 for a very small bottle (i will check too).
hi cheryl. i'm experiencing the same prob. i'm balding at the top part of my hair and i'm really desperate to look for all any hair regrowth products or treatments. its really stressing me out i dont dare to keep my hair long, afraid that it might be too heavy for my scalp. anyone can advise me on this pls? im really desperate.

Use Dalacin T for scalp pimples. I'm not sure if it has to be prescribed but I got it from a dermatologist in NSC.

lately i found a good and cheap shampoo for my oily scalp and it's ba wang anti dandruff shampoo. although i do not have dandruff, i saw that it helps to control excess oil secretion from scalp so gave it a try. it's good!
