    Default Sunscreen for Hair

we all know that using a sunscreen on the face helps to prevent pre-mature aging but i wonder do any of you use hair sunscreen products to protect your hair?? I've seen some brands selling sunscreen sprays for hair and some models who use it during outdoor photoshoots. so im wondering if sunscreen for hair really works?

I've been looking for hair sunscreen! Pantene used to sell but I think they discontinued it.

Do share the brands you saw that have hair sunscreen.

i've seen sasa selling a sunscreen spray for hair under the brand Phyto. It stated it's to protect the hair from the sun by filtering uv rays, chlorine and salt. I think it's about $20+ if im not wrong.

Default Sunscreen for your hair is important (especially long/coloured)

A stylist told me that sunscreen is important for the hair....
One of the reason why the ends of our hair is not as "healthy" as compared to the roots is because the hair is older...
To prevent the hair from ageing... use suncreen.

Sun damage to the hair can manifest as faded hair color, brittle and dry hair shafts and split ends.

The sun's light waves are categorized by their intensity. There are three categories of light waves. These are UVA, UVB and UVC. The UVA and UVB can both damage the hair in a variety of ways. It can cause permanent damage to the outside covering of the hair which is the cuticle and it can penetrate into the center of the hair, which is the cortex and do all sorts of damage.

    UVA - Ultraviolet A
This is the sun's strong radiation-filled light rays. Ultraviolet A rays have the longest wavelength and they can penetrate into the hair's deepest inner layer, which is the cortex. The UVA rays disturb the hair cortex's fiber-like cells that gives the hair its strength and elasticity. It can also damage the color pigments that create natural hair color. The UVA rays can also burn the hair cuticle which is the outer hair layer. The cuticle contains a web of tiny overlapping scales. Then the scales are damaged they can not lay flat, like they are supposed to, and will look lifeless, brittle and dry.

UVA rays can also burn and damage unprotected scalp. It is even possible to burn the part of your hair where scalp is unprotected. UVA rays can damage the skin on the scalp in many ways and activate free radicals which accelerates aging. A several sunburn on the scalp has even been known to cause some cases of hair loss.
    UVB Rays

    UVB - Ultraviolet B
These are invisible rays that also can penetrate deep into the hair's cortex or center damaging the hair fibers. It can also damage the hair cuticle. UVB rays can easily dry out the hair and cause natural and chemical colors to fade.

    UVC - Ultraviolet C
These rays are the most damaging but do not reach us because of the ozone layer which currently protects us.

I uses this CRÈME UV DÉFENSE ACTIVE (http://www.kerastase-usa.com/_en/_us...nse_active.htm. )

IIRC, loreal has one which is for UV defense.

lil_petals: It doesn't have a specific SPF, just sun protection which I think most hair sunscreens are like. This is $30+ close to a $40 and can be bought at beauty language.
I believe loreal has one hair product with sun protection too.

my hair will be weighed down by all the products.

i got to apply heat protectant oil, hair leave-in serum and then a hair sunscreen with some volumizing hair wax at my crown to give it extra volume.

babypinkish mayb u can skip the hair leave in serum coz heat protectant usually helps mosturise your hair too. I think most of the hair sunscreen are sprays...so they don't weigh the hair down...
i m getting the Paul Mitchell's Colour Locking UV Protector spray.
