I just went to do my rebonding there last week, I have to admit, the standard has dropped since I first patronized them more than 5 years ago. Furthermore, I took leave this time hoping that they will have more time to concentrate on the job. (there were less than 5 customers in the shop)
The service is ok, the staff are friendly, there is a small tv in front of each seat to help you pass time, and it only cost me $120 to do my long hair. I did soft rebonding and chose not to have my hair cut, however, the ends of my hair has actually started curling again. (it's been about a week).
I am going to see how long this will last before I decide if I will ever go back there again. But oh yes, the hair products there are quite cheap, worth buying. Hee.
I'd been doing rebonding at this hair salon for years. However, their service has deteriorated so much, i think it is really not worth the money or the trouble to visit this really ulu and inaccessible place.
Their service used to be ok. But i guess arrogance soon follows when they became more well-known. Hair cut was terrible. I got this feeling that they tried to thin your hair so much so that they can have an easier job doing the rebonding (and probably save on the chemical).
On my last visit sometime last year, i thought the result was horrible. My hair was thinned so much, the hair looks lifeless and overly flat after rebonding. However, i persuaded myself to visit the salon again today with the thought of not getting them to cut my hair (A week ago, i visited a renowned salon to have my hair properly cut at a premium price). So, today I called Papilio and asked them how much they are charging. They told me it's between $120 and $150 for bra-length hair. I asked them to give an exact price as if it's $150, i'll visit Jean Yip which charges $158, and which is so much more accessible. They said it's the same price as what i'd been charged previously - which is $120 based on my record.
So i took an hour and walked through dirty lanes and construction sites to reach the salon. After washing my hair, they wanted to cut my hair. I said i do not need a hair cut. That's when the lady started telling me that if i do not cut, the rebonding would cost $150. I told her that this wasn't what was conveyed to me. They then denied the phonecall which i'd made prior to coming down. When i asked them to check my record (as in how much i'd paid previously), they said they don't have such a record. If that's the case, why did they tell me over the phone that i would be charged the same price as what i'd been charged previously. I felt that I was conned into coming down. Despite my hair being all wet, i chose to stay by my principle and left the salon.
It's sad to see a salon deteriorating to such a level. It's hard to build up a business and reputation, and so easy to have them tarnished. They should really learn that the adopting of poor business tactics can be made known to others easily via poor word-of-mouth. I will stay away from this salon, and stop recommending it to my friends.
Have you tried to feedback to the boss so that he/she will know about it?
