I have been thinking abt a ceramic perm since last year. I am quite sick of straight hair but with wavy hair it means more maintenance.. So I am in a dilemma. Ceramic perm is not supposed to add more years but make u look elegant and really glam. I am trying to be more elegant this year!!

My hairdstylist has been encouraging me to go for it....so I will give it a little more thought...

Curling THONG? Oooh! THis is something I don't know how about! How does it work?

HAhahah....sorry, couldn't help myself. I think you meant curling TONG right? Hee hee....well, I got myself the BRAUN one. Was eyeing the Philips actually, until the salesman told me a lot of customers have been trying to return that. He told me the BRAUN is better because it heats up faster and curls better. The Philips one doesn't heat up enough to hold the curl for long.

I posted about this in a thread some time ago. Might be an idea to browse through all the hair-related threads and see if you can find my mini review there. HTH!

hehe me more cheapo first...trying out the effect of curled hair...bought some velcro rollers medium sized ones...rolled my hair when it was wet and used the hair dryer to blow dry it...the effect wasn't really there cos' my hair rebonded more stubborn but can tell how i'll look with curled hair...definitely older but i like the look! will do it maybe 6 months later :o:
actually the velcro rollers works just fine but i probably need like 2 hours to get the whole thing done!

on the contary, it seems that whenever i see girls who have done the perm on the streets, not many have impressed me so far...i guess it's mostly due to the fact that the perm on these people look kind of 'auntie' to me...well..the curls are tight n 'maggie -mee' * no offense to those who have done the perm though!*

but i guess it's really hard to find girls who have done a perm that suits them to a T.....and i agree that going to a reliable n trustable hair stylist is impt...

heard from one of my frens who did the perm, that there needs to be special moisturer/conditioning done to the hair everyday...wonder if this is accurate?

I think those u saw had japanese perm. They dont look too nice to me either. I prefer those with ceramic perm, the curls are very defined and neat.

perhaps those ceramic perm that i saw on my colleagues were negative demostration. the curls look a bit too tight and we even nicknamed one "Medusa" (she's not really well-liked )

doesn't anyone think that ceramic perms or any kind of perm is getting very common nowadays? after my prom when the curled my hair i was VERY VERY tempted to get a perm but i decided to think about it because

    1) my hair is already rather damaged
    2) i already look older than i am
    3) don't know how to style..i've been blowing & ironing my hair straight forever
    4) i find it looks messy? i can't get used to it
    5) rebond again when it grows out? i think my hair will break off or something 8O

anyway i find hair curled with curling tongs looks really nice! the same effect cannot be duplicated with a perm

anyway this my prom hair curled with wide barrel curling tong

looks a bit messy here but i like it! too much work though

haha it wasn't done by me! by my hairstylist
i know she used those big barrel type tongs..quite common i think but it should be a big barrel..small ones yield tighter curls

it took her maybe 20-30 mins?

those i think is pretty are those whereby the hair is wavy instead of tight curls.. (more wavy than natural waves)

I used to have have long curled ends on my hair.. but it was so tedious to maintain I snip them off. Inorder to keep my curls pretty, I put on my curlers almost after every shampoo to maintain them, used hair mask every week to prevent dry out...
