If this continues, i would see a dermatologist. My mum had dandruff with hair loss. She found out that her dry scalp was causing the problem. Most people assume that oily scalp causes dandruff.
HTH
Psoriasis perhaps?
I have the same problem, but i got rid of it.
yes i second that!Originally posted by meow123
Try Keratase..they have this dundruff shampoo that is pretty good..greyish blue in colour. Use that for your scalp and another shampoo for your ends. But if your ends are not try u can use for the whole head....It works for me previously.
when back from a cold country, i suffered dandruff.. so depressed.
asked my hairstylist & she recommended this Kerastase (by L'oreal) for shampoo & the rinse-off lotion as well.
it worked for me but it's very strong. use it when you see dandruff..
when you 'recovered' from dandruff, stop using it okie.

hi,

aNY METHODS or Shampoos to elimate this problem.
and also i feel that my scalp is very dry too. Thanks! :yaya:
I'm searching one for hubby too. Came across these 2 products. No comments as I'm not using any at this moment.
Keratase Specific Anti-Dandruff Hair Bath for dry hair
Selling at selected hair salons.
Klorane Myrtle Shampoo
Contains a polyhenols(tannis and flavonoids).
The extract obtained from the leaves and fruits is a powerful, anti-dandruff cleanser.
Selling at Guardian Pharmacy
My dad uses this shampoo called selsun from the pharmacy, it contains 25% selenium sulphide. I had a dry scalp season due to wrong product usage, then I took his selsun shampoo and tried it to rid the dandruff. It works very well. U're supposed to just shampoo it , massage it in the scalp, leave it on for a few minutes after which wash off. Subsequently, there was immediately no dandruff. I used it for only one wash, and the problem was rectified immediately. It's not really a shampoo for daily usage.
HTH!
I'm also a fan of Selsun in the yellow bottle. Worked miracles for my flaky scalp; prefer it to Nizoral and other anti-dandruff shampoos I've tried. Non-prescription, and you can find it at most pharmacies. I use it every other shampoo.
Second (or third?) Selsun too! Tried the blue bottle after Saresha's recommendations. Works wonder to my oily scalp and make all my flaky dandruff disappear! I have tried alot of anti-dandruff including Nizoral, Denorex, Neutrogena, head and shoulder etc. This one still the best!![]()
Oh.. and it is affordable too! (cheaper than Nizoral)
i'm using follow me green tea shampoo for sensitive scalp and it really does help mine...it smells good and leaves a slight lingering minty feel...though it doesnt state its menthol
head and shoulders used to solve the problem but not anymore
Tea Tree Oil is a mild antiseptic and has antifungal properties which is great for dandruff. Try adding a few drops to your shampoo before application. For me, it feels minty, soothing and it's lovely.
If your scalp feels dry, flaky, scaly and itchy, you might have seborrheic dermatitis. I believe the difference between this and dandruff, is that dandruff is slightly yellow in colour, whereas dry scalps produce white flakes.
If you have a dry scalp, try to let your hair dry naturally as often as possible. Also, perhaps even use a gentle shampoo like Johnson's Baby because the ingrediants in it might not be so stripping and less harsh.
Also, T-Gel & Oilatum shampoos are supposed to be good.

Hi Ayleen,
Got this from www.nationalezcema.org...
What is Seborrheic Dermatitis (SD)?
SD is a non-contagious condition that causes flaking and redness of the skin. It occurs when there is inflammation in areas of the skin where sebaceous (skin oil) glands are concentrated. Here is a link that lists all the shampoos that they reccomend. What is the Difference Between Seborrheic Dermatitis and Dandruff?
Every month, our skin replaces its cells. As these skin cells rise to the surface, they shed. They generally go unnoticed, but if they stick together in clumps, the dry scalp flakes are easily seen. Dandruff is the result of these clumps of dead skin cells flaking off the scalp. It is so common that it is considered normal. Clinically, there is no inflammation (pain or redness) but at a microscopic level there is inflammation associated with dandruff, which is why people with this condition sometimes complain of an itchy scalp.
Seborrheic dermatitis is sometimes thought of as a more severe form of dandruff. If your scalp becomes itchy and the scales build up, it’s an indication that you may have SD.![]()
I believe skin complaints of the scalp can be very common, it ranges from dandruff, to seborrheic dermatitis, to ezcema or psoriasis. If you have a persistant and agravating scalp complaint, or are unsure of anything, please visit your doctor, yea?![]()
