I have been going to the same hairdresser for 4 years or so. Never once did I stray. I go to the Scene at Wisma. My hairstylist is Michael who is the director there. I wld rate him 8/10. He knows my hair well and what I like or dislike. He is also a genius when it comes to colourings. I never have the same colour when I highlight my hair..I signed up for a treatment package so I pay only 50% for haircut by him (orginal $55)
Jemay, may I know what did Vinn do to ur hair previously?
I tried finding in this thread but to no avail.

A long time ago, I did a hair show for Vinn's friend.
At that time, Vinn was relatively an unknown actually. He had this small cosy shop in FEP and was a very nice person if I can recall.
And if Im not wrong, I dun think he is local even?
Malaysian or something? Im not sure.
But he was very nice during the whole competition. We even went for dinner and all that.
In the end he came out 2nd.
Then he continued joining competitions, coming in at least top three after that.
He moved, and Action the Salon expanded.
While Im happy for him, Im sorry to hear about ur experience.
Maybe his head got too swelled.
Vonvonne,
Im so glad that u like Justin.
She is one of my best frens and very humourous too!
Always making us laugh.
Tell her I miss her if u see her again!![]()
SuperBum
I know all about The Scene man..
My good fren used to go there alot and upon his recommendation, I tried that place out.
Wrong move.
I had classes that day so I was in a T-shirt and jeans.
Right from the start, the snotty recept kept me waiting like forever although I had an appointment.
The hairstylist couldnt be bothered with me. And I saw him for less than 15 mins.
I did a colour and cut ok.
Someone else did my colour and washed my hair. He just quickly trimmed my tresses and NEVER CAME BACK TO TALK TO ME.
I felt stupid and extremely out of place.
The only person who was nice to me was this chubby gal who washed my hair.
It was that bad.
I felt extremely small and the people there very fake n patronising.
The cost of the color n cut was not as damaging as what they did to my self-esteem.
NO DOUBT, NOT ONLY DID I NOT GO BACK, I MAKE SURE I ALWAYS SPIT AT THE SHOP WHEN I WALK PAST IT IN PARAGON.
I hope they close down soon.
Amen.
i went to Kimage funan to have a haircut after reading raves about edwin + edmund.. and i can't really remember it was edmund or edwin who cut my hair for me since the other was on leave. but anyway, edwin/edmund gave me such a bad haircut and didn't know what i want! i even printed out the hair style which i wanted, but he totally did not give me that hair! he merely just layer and layer my hair, and i went out with thinner hair, but look the same as before!
anyway that was months ago. I just went The Scene yesterday to have a haircut, and Raymond was saying "aiyo what did the previous stylist do to your hair!? SO THIN and layered! Left side's thicker than the right side, and the top part of hair is very very short! I can't do anything to your hair now. you must leave it long.. and it's gonna be a longggg time before your hair grows out!"
Sigh. so i'm stuck with this hair style for a long time to come. =( Disappointed with edmund/edwin, (sorry can't remember who was it. their name abit similar)
any rants and raves?
anyone tried raymond before? any comments? was thinking of trying him for a haircut...so wld appreciate it if anyone can who had a haircut by him tell me abt their experience?![]()

My hairstylist is Lawrence, he is from Reds Bugis & Hair Profile previously. My hair has been style & cut by him since 2001. He is now at Raffles City, The Scene Hair Salon. Not trying to advertise for him but I am really always a happy customer of his. He is really good at choosing right colours for yr hair and layering.
Hi meow123,
i used to have the same opinion of micheal as you. I have been going to The Scene for past 6-7 years (since uni days) and i would say micheal's standard does fluctuate.
my bunch of my friends used to swear by him cos he's really good then. but now all of them have switched and i'm the only one who still go to micheal. (or i should say, used to go to micheal)
when my package finishes at the scene, micheal would treat me very nice and take real slow to cut my hair. he would pamper me, showed me jap hairstyle mag and washes my hair himself !during the sars period when the business is bad, he would even give me kerastas samples to try!
but now when the business picked up, he simply take for granted that i would go back and his service really drop.
just a couple of months ago, i went back and request for a more trendy look (cos he gave me a bob previously and lot of taxi drivers thought i'm from mainland china!).![]()
the snooty recept (don't understand why they are always so unfriendly except when i pay up then i get a smile from her) informed me that micheal is about to leave for the day but he decided to cut my hair before he goes off. BIG BIG MISTAKE!!![]()
I should have gone back another day. well, micheal chopped off my hair like nobody's business and did it really quick. he grabs and cut and grabs and snip and pull and chop with a layering scissors (scissors on my side, comb on the other). in a flash, he's done and to my horror, my haircut is so bloddy horrible. he gave me a short cut with long sideburns and really short on top that my hair practically stands! after washing and blowing, my hair looks like a odd shaped helmet.and the blowing doesn't help cos they really make my hair real puffy.
even the girls sitting next to me had a shock look on their face. the recept stared at my hair for a while before telling me the haircut cost $60! i was realy upset and even went to the toilet on the same floor to put lot of water on my hair to tame it down. worse of all, as he used layering scissors on me, my once silky hair became so coarse and dry looking!
My SO commented that i didn't look as good and i know he trying to console me.. he could have said it's bloody ugly!my colleagues, my bosses, my friends even my SO's mum (who happen to be a hairdresser too) all said my previoous hairstyles are much better. never in my life i have had such a bad experience at a hairdresser and micheal is even i whom i used to trust! i have also never received so many bad comments about my hair!

since that day, i have swear not to step in his shop ever again and i would curse him bad business everyday and his shop to close down soon.![]()
Gosh amelia, i feel so sorry for you!!! i have visited the Scene before and i've observed this Michael guy sashaying around although I've never had my hair cut by him- Thank God!!
The people there are just not big on customer service... Hope your hair grows out soon!!
so sorry to hear about your horror story amelia! i'm going there today! Not looking for michael though. Hope it turns out fine.
Hi bel, wish you all the best!
Ya, i agree that micheal is TERRIBLE. but i really ***'t expect that happen as he is the co-owner of the salon. (he shares with his sis who is sometimes at the salon, and looks like a female version of Micheal). i have always trusted him but alas what happened!
For those who went to The Scene at Wisma, has anyone tried Jack before? Be it haircut or other services. Any experience to share?![]()
My BF is also his loyal customer and would follow him wherever he goes. I have yet to try his haircut, though I once had him blow dry my hair. He did a great job, giving me beautiful bouncy curls. I definitely will try out his haircut soon.Originally Posted by Schumi
