=============
for me...
my problems is tt there r too many brands, too many different types of scent, too many choices...
i dunno how to choose...
I think getting a perfume that should stay on my body for long... EVEN THOUGH ITS REAL... some just doesn't STAY ...
And what the scent actually become when its on my body... I mean it is a fragrance on the paper... but sometimes it doesnt mix well with our natural body scent .... and it can smell pretty bad
I get confused with the samples. After awhile, they all smell alike to me and I can't remember which is the one that I like!![]()
the problem i encounter is i there are too many perfumes i want out there but i dont need so many bottles!![]()
Tested on the wrists but smells so different from the bottle.
Bottle/Name is nice but my nose doesn't like the scent.
I usually go back to me staples if one is discontinued or wants a change.
Haha i have the same problems as the other cotters.
Usually the problems with getting fragrances is that the scent don't smell the same in the bottle and on me, i like the bottle design but not the scent, i don't know which perfume to get because so many fragrances smell so nice, i don't want to smell the same as others on the streets, the scent is too expensive and the amount inside the bottle is too little, worse is that it is a limited edition that i love and its discontinued.![]()
Fragrances are usually tested on those test strips but the correct way to test the scent is actually to test it on yourself. This makes it impossible to test the fragrance as you technically can only try 2 max (1 on each arm). Perfumes apparently react with our body chemicals so the scent may spell different than if we whiffed it from the bottle or strip.
I have high body temperature and slightly oily skin. I believe these 2 factors alter the fragrance notes adversely. I mean such a fresh scent like Davidoff Cool Water for women can smell like heady bluberry on me. So i will try a scent at least twice before buying.
I try 3 scents on each arm - wrist, forearm & biceps. In between trying of scents, i clear my palette by either taking sips of water or smelling coffee / beans. This is a neat trick i learnt from Escentials @ Tangs.
My fav Oyedo by Diptyque is no longer in Singapore. Fruity scents don't last. The floral, woody scents are the most lasting. Can try to use the same perfumed body lotion which acts as a lining, so that the scents last. This 'primer' also prevents the scent from changing too much.
I do not bother going for pretty bottles as I will send them for recycling. I, would not appreciate a common scent that everyone wears.
Okay I recently have developed an addiction to perfume, body sprays, and lotions. I don't use them often because I rarely go out yet I keep buying more, like on Christmas most of my gifts were perfumes or gift sets from like bath and body works, and now I want to buy more perfumes. Help! I cant stop! I wasn't like this in the past. I cant stop collecting them. When I buy them I know I wont use them much (because I have so many) but I still want it, is it psychological? Anyone have any similar experiences and tips on how to stop?![]()
I used to be obssessed with perfumes and body sprays to the extend that I have boxes and boxes of them and I can change my perfume everyday and they will last me months. One fine day I decided, heck, I'm going to stop this and chose some of my favourites to keep and give the rest away. I'm now still living on almost 8 bottles of perfume, which I think is still too much. There are still many lovely scents out there but I am still pretty well in control of the amount of perfumes I have. I hope one day, I can find the perfume which I will stick to and make it my 'signature scent'. I have a few friends who use only 1 perfume and you know it is them the moment you "smell" their perfume.
It's easy to keep buying perfumes and i always love to go shopping mall to check out perfume that i fancy, not necessarily the new one but most of them are what i quite like, unless it's really those pungent smell then, i refrain from them. I have gotten quite a few and i still have a list i wanna get but i think enough is enough. Now i used them up, be it going out or staying at home, inorder to finish them. I just finish a bottle which i had for the past 5 years because i seldom use it and the scent is still there although very minimal and that the alcohol is more stronger than the scent....that is also one of the reason why i don't buy as much anymore. I guess age also has tone me down in implusive buying....i guess having alot in my possession doesn't mean anything anymore and esp. when i see it goes wasteful, either, i have to clear due to spoilt or the scent is gone or giveaway to my mum, who kept chiding me for buying so much...i can spend my money on necessary stuff than things i know i will take sometimes in finishing. Got 6 bottles more to go but almost still brand new, 100ml. I vow to finish 2 bottles, if i can or more bottles by the end of 2011.
u can actually narrow down to a few number of brands that suit your budget and taste. basically, each brand carries its own special scent, or class of scent. from there, it'll be easier to determine which perfume suits you.
