I'm wondering how much you girls save in a month.
I'm married with a house, so after deducting cpf, insurance, bills, groceries, parents' allowance, I save maybe about 20%.
However I read from a research article that singaporeans' saving ratio is 50%!!!!! I wonder how that can be? Maybe it includes CPF and Insurance etc.
Like to hear from you girls! How much do You save?
i just started working, so my parents will still give me a little allowance "yi si yi si" only. I save 50% of my pay every month (that includes after deducing CPF and parents allowance and my own personal allowance). I hope this can continue in years to come haha.
****.... i dun save very much....
Im making it a point to save at least 20% from next month onwards... Im one of those who doesn't know where my money goes to.....![]()
sugar.skies, you're one of those in the survey. Woah.. I'm impressed.
cerealz, if you have an iphone, there's application for tracking expenses! Its amazing.. Though its quite scary to see how much we're actually spending.
i hope i can still continue to save as much as possible though. Housing loans, and all the financial payments are so scary. Guess its only a matter of time that i put the "financial management" module learnt in school in good use lol.![]()
I can save mroe than 50% if I am very thrifty. I don't spend much most of the times. But a trip overseas can easily eat up a few months' worth of savings. If we are talking about long term savings (endowment and CPF), I save about 30% there and another about 30 to 40% from my disposable income. Again, disposable income savings can be very fluid since the money is there ready to be spent.
10% of my yearly income goes to insurances/savings
i save up 50% of my monthly income
50% is alot. I will never be able to do that. I'm a terrible spendthrift. At the most i can only save 10% of my salary every month. I know we have to start saving hard from young as there will be one day whereby we will need money, when we are sick or when we have retired, when we are so old till we can't work anymore.
not inclusive of my cpf i save up to 50-60% of my income on my best months. rest goes to insurance, parents allowance, $ set aside for our ja, taxes, personal allowance etc. on average 40-50% of savings set aside.
i am considered an average saver...i do know of someone who saves up to 70-80% of her income. amazing right?!!
for those who lament you cant save...its not true. you are just not aware where the $ goes to...its really simple to just keep track and cut down on unnecessary stuffs.![]()

i save about 70% of my income, self-employed.
i only need to pay for my part-time maid. all other expenses are taken care by my spouse. i will make sure my credit card do not exceed $300, if it does, i'll "bar" myself for the next month.
i can go travelling on short trips less than 10 days without "touching" my bank account, heehee....
