I've been at the crossroads for a while now and I can't figure out where to go. I am an A-Level student who did badly for A levels in 2009 and I have since spent one year away working. I initially wanted to do UOL Sociology with Law after hearing the prospects of UOL LLB, but after hearing bad reviews on Stansfield College, I am even more scared of enrolling.
The reason I waited one year is because 1) I honestly couldn't figure out what to do; 2) my family is not wealthy and I didn't want to take the plunge to do a degree that I might come to regret.
Apart from an A in GP, I did very badly for all my other subjects for A Levels because I was a private student after dropping out from a local JC after JC1 due to personal reasons. As I did rather well in JC1, I still strongly feel that I could've done better for my A levels if not for my personal problems during that year that interfered with my studies.
Also, after reading up on the Sociology with Law degree I really honestly am interested in it. But a private degree is risky to me and I am rather worried.
I am now considering if I should retake my A levels with MDIS (10 months) using my saved up money, take the UOL Sociology with Law degree on my own whilst working (without enrolling at Stansfield) or just take the plunge and enroll with Stansfield as a full-time student.
I am a rather hard worker in terms of studies if that will help me with any decision.![]()
Please help meTIA.

I was in the same boat as you. Seriously don't retake A levels since you've already wasted one year. You wouldn't be able to get back to that rigorous studying mode.
I was surprised when I did so well for my GP cause I flunked all the way. Actually I feel that my results aren't that bad (I've got 75 points) but because if foreign stupid competition (they should just go back to their village), I couldn't get into FASS. That was a harsh reality for me because it's my dream even until now. I'm currently a SIM UOL Accounting&Finance student though I v much abhor my situation right now being a private uni student. I get the feeling of being looked down upon v much maybe cause I have a really great sense if pride. My boyfriend is in NUS LLB -.- and I mingle w his friends more than I do in SIM. what I can say the culture is really different. However if you're thinking of doing sociology w law in Stansfield UOL, after all it's a degree nobody can say that it's not gonna be handy. Tho I get a lot of comments that SIM teaching environment is still the best for private studies that's why I gave up studying law in ITC. I think if it us really your passion, go for it and make sure you put in your heart and soul and get first class degree. If you have got kaching, seriously go overseas.
Do what you think is best for you and most importantly don't regret.
Good luck!
