Default CAT first or straightaway ACCA

    Dear All,

I need some advice. I am an engineering graduate and have been working as an engineer for 4 years plus already. I am thinking of switching my field to accountancy (is it too late?)

Would it be better to take CAT first, get a related job with this CAT qualification and then pursue ACCA.... or dive right in to ACCA as I think i go by the mature student route, which the requirement is, I need to pass the F2 & F3 papers within 2 years.

    Thanks in advance

    how old are u?

i dun think is worth. without working experience in accounting line very hard to find jobs.....

u need to spent a lot of time to find accounting jobs.

ACCA u need to study at least three years. pass f2 and f3 then continue with the other modules....

    acca is tough ......

    Hi peter20100605,

    Thanks for your advise.

I just turned 29. I don't mind starting from scratch as I am looking to get out of my current field. I don't see myself doing what I'm currently doing in 5-10 years time.

I also heard that ACCA is tough, but I thought getting a qualification would give me a better edge when switching field. I was thinking "never try, never know"..

That's why I thought of getting CAT first to help me find an accounting job while i take ACCA.

Have you taken ACCA before? Maybe can share some tips of studying with me.. thanks.

u can start looking for accounts assistant jobs. dun mind to tell u the pay is very low.

just finish revision kit questions and understand what the lecturer is teaching chance of passing the exams is higher.

    Hi Aeonnix,

In the end, did you go for CAT course?

I also thought of switching to accounting line. So is it better to go for CAT first?

It will great if you can give some advise.
    Thanks in advance!
