    learning Chinese in Singapore

    Hi,

I'm currently doing my bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies. Since Chinese is my minor, my Chinese skills are not very good, that's why I'd like to improve them by visiting a language school. I'm learning Mandarin and I am very interested in Singapore.. Do you think I could go to a language school there?? Do you know any good ones? Sorry if I may sound stupid, but the variety of Chinese dialects confuses me all the time.. My other plans would be Shanghai or Taipei. I'd love to combine visiting the school with doing an internship (I did one last year near Hong Kong, only 6 weeks).. So what is the best place for that?

Thanks soo much in advance for helping me!

You can take lessons at Singapore Chinese Chamber Institute of Business if you intend to come to Singapore.

Practice wise, I would like to inform you that a lot of Singaporeans don't speak proper Mandarin; we speak a form of creole which is Singlish - a mega-mix of English, Mandarin, dialets and Malay. If you want to practice Mandarin in a more effective way, I would suggest you to learn in China instead. If you choose to study in cities other than Beijing or Shanghai, their standard of living is also cheaper compared to Singapore.
