Okay, I passed A Levels but with my grades (DDE/C, Gp A) I can't get to any of the Local Unis. Private Unis aren't a choice because my parents refuse to pay.
Can I go back to my JC and retake another year? I mean especially since a term has already passed.
(I'm in ACJC btw.)
erm... i dont suppose you can... usually, one can only go back to the jc he/she comes from to repeat the year 2 in order to take a-level exam again, only provided that he/she has failed one or more of the subjects in the exam...
or have you considered going to poly? although you have to spend three years studying
yes you can. go contact your school about it.
act you can still try cause some courses re still avail for your grades!!what course do you wanna do?

erm i can't get into any course. I checked out NTU and NUS. the lowest course was DDD/C last year. And results improved this year so I doubt any course would be available.
seek advice from your teachers in JC and see how..if not take A levels as a private candidate again?
all e best..
i agree that the chance of getting into NTU, NUS or SMU is pretty slim with grades like that... i think maybe you try retaking your a-level as a private candidate... if not, do seriously consider private uni...
i do have a friend whose parents are like yours... insisting that either she enters local uni or she goes to work... but eventually they have to allow her to go for private uni in the end after contemplating for qt long... & thanks to that, she could only apply for a few remaining courses which have yet to close the application when her parents agreed to let her apply for private uni... & for your info, her grade is CCD...
I was from CJC and if i'm not wrong I've seen seniors coming back to school after getting their results. I think its possible but you probably have to convince yr principal.
for my jc, to go back to the school to repeat year 2... one has to be recommended by the form teacher or other teachers & one can only return provided she/he has failed one or more subjects... not sure if this applies to all schools though...
I don't see any harm in giving A's another shot as a private candidate. Meanwhile you can join the workforce to gain some experience. That's what I did =)
I did quite badly for A levels too, dont intend to go private uni. My current decision is to retake a's.
youngorgeous, care to share your experience taking a levels as private candidate? Did you go to any private sch or have any tuition?
noy younggorgeous but i do have a friend who has retaken his a-level before...
but he is a guy so have to serve ns...
so retake or not doesnt waste his extra time at all...
basically, his results was not that bad... BCC...
gd enough to enter local uni(limited courses though)...
but just not good enough to enter the course of his choice...
so he retook a-level as a private candidate & self studied on his own...
No you can't retake you A levels in school anymore. The criteria to retake is that you must FAIL your GP. Wow! You managed to clinch an A for GP! That's like a very small percentage of the cohort every year!
You can retake your A levels as a private candidate through self-study. Engage private tutors but note that they may be pricey especially when you engage current school teachers. Do you have friends taking or retaking As too? What I can suggest is that you can gather some of these friends and then have a small group tuition, say about 3 to 4 of you? It would be much cheaper this way to have private tuitions for JC students since it's so expensive to have 1to1 tuition.
My friend retook her A levels as a private candidate. She didnt attend any classes or whatsoever. Purely through self-study and tuitions. She attained a much better results! Most probably able to enter local university. Quite envious because she decided to go for 2 at 1 time - Retaking and attending SIM. But she did skip SIM lessons to study for her As. And I guess it's worth it! But only thing is that she will be wasting her money for SIM.My friends and I tried advising her to just focus on one but she didn't heed our advice.
My grades weren't fantastic either and I'm now studying in a private institution, purusing my degree. Upon hearing my friend's results, I kind of regret and reflect if I should have retook mine too. But I guess nothing can be done now, since I'm approaching my finals for my first year.
and yes, another alternative would be to go to poly, i reckoned you can enter into better courses in poly, since you're from ACJC, so your O Level grades would be quite good. That is unless you purely used them to enter and not through non-academic achievements. But then again, entering poly would waste the 2 years u spent in JC since it's totally irrelevant...
