I've done French before and it's quite hard. Barely passed the exams and I got through by sheer memorization. But its fun to study though!

Korean's quite easy too. Just that the vocab is the one that kills. Especially if you're not familiar with the culture.

I'm thinking of trying exotic languages... like Welsh. Though its a completely useless language, except in Wales perhaps. haha.

I'd like to learn Italian, or Latin!
I think with each language learnt, the next one becomes easier ^^

It was easy learning Japanese because I knew Chinese, and it became easy learning Korean after 6 years of Japanese; the grammar is almost identical.
I learnt French for a while, compared to Asian languages it was considerably harder. It's harder than German despite German having 3 "genders" while French only has 2. But even having learnt a bit of French made Spanish easier, the grammar is almost identical. And also because I knew some Tagalog, which derived a lot of its modern vocabulary from Spanish.

For me it's interesting learning languages and seeing similarities between them :D
I want to try Balto-Slavic languages some day, and more Germanic ones (:
I don't really want to try to master a language, for me being able to communicate is enough.
Learning the language really helps you understand the culture and history more, or at least that's how I feel after learning the ones I've learnt.

I'm very keen to take up korean and french. Have been watching alot of korean shows for the past few years and i really like the way they speak. Addicted to korean series. French is kinda difficult to learn, but i'm starting to get into it for the past few weeks.

Wow you know so much! I'm still discovering new ways of using English everyday.

    Cheers,

My 3rd language is German. Took it at Goethe for 2 years and then again when I started NUS.
If I could choose a 4th language, I'd take French or Korean or Jap.

I've got basics for Japanese. Definitely gonna pursue that after I graduate.

I'm also very interested in Russian. A beautiful language i reckon. however, not very useful in SG or even worldwide and it'd just be a personal interest.

Hmmz seems like no one really mentioned Spanish?? Spanish is the world's 2nd most spoken language after Mandarin!. Refer to List of languages by number of native speakers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's about the rising powers, so Hindi/Tamil or brushing up on Mandarin.
