Hi, peppermint! Definitely UM.
Monash ranking in Aus may be high but degree wise for business, UM is definitely better. They are more selective. The gpa acceptance is around our local unis as well!
If you can enter Monash, why not try other unis as well? I applied but Monash told me my degree will take 3 years! Other unis like UWA replied me 2 years.
thanks risquey for the advice !
but if i choose UM i have to go for foundation studies which cost more which i dont know if i should go for it ans i am interested in UM model as they do breadth subjects as well its appealing haha.
have to make a decision by this april ):
i have a few friends studying in UM and if i go accommodation wise is cheaper but if i study in Monash is there any other places thats in between monash and UM ? so as to save transportation costs....haha dont wanna waste time travelling also !
no problem! haha
accomodation wise im really unsure as i have a group of friends bunking in a bungalow tgt just outside of melb city but they go to monash. money wise, they really save alot as compared to apartments if you were to rent out one room by yourself.
so sorry! cant offer much advice on this!
Hi all
I am also planning to do MBA in aussie.. melbourne
Right now am planning my finances..
Say excluding accommodation (cuz will be staying at uncle place), how much shall i put aside monthly for my living expenses ? Like transportation, food etc
Have searched in other forums but i saw a range of 1600-2000 sgd but with accommodation..
Thanks in advance..
Pinkiepooh: I can spend from AUD1.2-2k per month depending whether Alannah Hill has new season stuff in/DJ or Myer have salesnot including rent. I ate out for most meals except brekkie because I dislike touching raw meat, and cooking a big pot and then eating it for the rest of the week gets boring very fast. A lot of people say you get fat in AU, but I lost weight even with the ginormous servings (which I usually finish) because in a city like Melb, you walk a lot if you are the wandering-around sort... If you just walk downstairs to uni then back to your room then of course you'll get fat.
I'd say you can probably get by with AUD1k maybe 800 bucks, and also depends on how lazy you are. I walk to uni (about 15min brisk walk speed) because I lived close enough, but I was always too lazy to walk home from the city because it's an uphill walk on Swanston Stso I took trams and trams = tickets = money. Also, I tend to jalan a lot during weekends so also $.
cosmonautte, hmm so on average we need about aud1.2k just on food + bills + transportations and other expenses incurred excluding the rental?
by the way, anyone happens to be working while studying? is it easy to get a part time job there?
With questions regarding Bachelor of Design- (Communication design) in RMIT. I was wondering if there's anyone here who is currently in this particular course?
I recently received my diploma in Visual Comm and have been considering going over to Melbourne to do my degree. I've heard heaps of excellent comments for RMIT, hence it's currently on the top of my list of school choices. However, since this would be my first time living abroad on my own, there are lots of rather minor details that are worrying. Here are a few questions I'd like to ask for fellow students who are/ have done their BA in communication design (RMIT).
1) I'd like to know how classes and assessments are conducted. I've heard it's a lot about independent work in uni, while it could be both good and bad, I'd like to know ur take on it and most importantly, how work should be delivered. The main issue I'm worried about concerns printing and art supplies![]()
2) Classmates - was it easy to get along with people? I understand students in design courses tend to be fairly open and easy going but I've also heard from a couple of friends who studied in Melbourne a year or 2 back from non-art courses, that they've had classmates who would rather keep to themselves etc ?
Ur replies would be very much appreciated! Thank you SO much in advance! :D
cgcgcg: I'm currently in this course and I have been here for 2.5 years. I personally love school very much. Lecturers and my classmates are awesome.Since you have a diploma in visual comm, i suppose you will have much more exemption of semesters.
Yes it's independent learning over here. Each class weekly is mostly consultation and perhaps guest speakers for lectures. We have group review for our projects time to time as well. If you really do your work and consult your lecturers/classmates, I believe you will learn much.
I guess in all courses there are always some that prefer to keep to themselves. My course is made up of 50% locals, 50% international students so it's great to mingle with both group.
Thanks Connexion for ur quick response! :D :D It's definitely helped me a lot!
