Some companies are quite particular abt grades cos they prefer to take in pple with 1st class or 2nd upper class. They will actually state this requirements in their advert. Others may emphasize more on work experience. Of course if u have both then Best![]()

I'm interested to enrol in SIM-RMIT next year, in biz admin. From what i know, UOL is more to the one man show type whereas RMIT is more like poly oriented. True?
Is the workload in RMIT heavy?
Would like to know more about RMIT, especially those in biz admin too ..
TIA!
hi..heard that RMIT are more on project based and UOL are more on theories. And UOL exams are once a yr. It depend very much on what course you taking. eg if taking biz law u might consider UOL is better and i think for biz admin RMIT will be better, *** my point of view, the decision is still up to you =)Originally posted by miracle

There was a newspaper report sometime ago & they rank the degree courses that are offered in Singapore (including the external degrees as well as those offered by NTU/NUS). If i did'nt remember wrongly, RMIT is ranked lower than UOL. Maybe u can do mroe research before deciding which is more suitable for you.
RMIT is in Tier 3 while UOL is in Tier 2 .. NUS/NTU/SMU are Tier 1 uni .
wow...u still remember the resultsOriginally posted by miracle

Hi, I am currently studying in a local polytechnic pursuing a diploma in business studies, specializing in Tourism & leisure mngt) and am considering to enrol into SIM Bachelor of Business in Business Administration awarded by RMIT University. However they offer 5 different specialisations in this course (Business Finance/ Human Resource Management/ Marketing/ Entrepreneurship). they don't offer Tourism.. so I would like to seek advise from you guys onto which specialization is preferred.. many thanks!![]()
xiaoyun, i think it will depends on your interest.. i just finished my last exam this nov, and i wasn't taking a diploma in marketing (i majored in marketing with SIM).. but i'm glad i took marketing, cos i realised marketing can be quite interesting too..
my friend took tourism in her poly days, and she switched to HR.. but i heard from her last time that HR always have night classes.. if you want to go into finance, i think it will be better if you are good with numbers..
my batch of entreprenuers are quite little on the %tage.. but from what i hear from my friend, the workload (for projects) might be a little heavy, cos quite a lot might be individual work.. eg. business plans..
so maybe you should find out where your interest lies in, and then go for it!![]()
many thanks Berry1207.. may i know whether the environment is the same as poly? are there individual tutorial classes as well? coz i will most probably be able to skip the 1st year and join the 2nd year batch due to my diploma.. am a bit afraid of not being able to fit in socially into a already-present class.. sigh..![]()
xiaoyun: in the SIM-RMIT BBBA course, lessons are held in 3 hr blocks. So in this 3hrs, its a mix of tutorials and lectures. But most of the time, it was more like 3 hr lec. Depends on the lecturer really, there was one sem where the lecturer really emphasised on tutorials and would assign each group, tutorial questions to do, and each group had to present their answers to the whole class.
If i'm not wrong, each batch is split into class A and class B. Think class a's are those that entered fr year 1? and class b are those who got exempted from the 1st yr subjects. Don't worry abt not fitting in, you'll be alright
miracle: i chose RMIT over UOL cos i wasn't sure i wld survive the once a year exams. Imagine everything hanging on just one exam, abit stressing. RMIT's grades are based on final exams every semester and individual and group assignments. So in a way, it is slightly safer? Anyway, the assignments allow you to apply what you've learnt so in a way it's good i guess?
So it's something like poly style? Anyway, how big are the classes?
er, sorry not to sure what it poly style, came from jc. class size, erm my batch (class a) was abt 100+? think it was pretty big, have u been to sim yet? you know the smaller LTs? We probably filled it to the brim.
yea, HR is always night lessons from 7pm to 10pm, quite tiring. However, one sem the timetable they gave us squashed all the lecs in 2 days (one day had noon and night classes) so i ended up with a very free week! so had a pretty happy semesterbut i heard from her last time that HR always have night classes..![]()

Nope, haven been down there yet. Wow, quite a big number of students. Is it easy to make friends like that? Heard from someone from UOL side that UOL is more to a one man show approach ..
