i was just wondering JLPT4 need basic katagana or advance katagana knowledge? is JLPT4 difficult for beginners
Any good Japanese Language school with intensive courses (like 4-5 times a week) to recommend? Feel like doing a Jap course.. But i think i'll be going to Sydney for another course soon.
Think I've wasted too much of my time! Should have started on this jap course earlier...![]()

Katakana is not needed in JLPT4.
Only hiragana.

Those interested can try a Japanese Language School located in Orchard, Shaw House.
Pretty good from the feedback I received.
Here's the website: Ikoma Language School

Yupz ikoma is good; i've friends studying there. Plus they use the same textbook as the Jap courses in NUS (minna no nihongo) and NUS has very high standards.
IMHO it's better to go to a language school because you'll pick up conversation skills better. Especially for languages like Jap where different styles are used for spoken and written language.
Ermm... Sorry no offence but I would beg to differ for the part on the textbook.
I completed all the japanese language modules offered in NUS but my batch was the one before the batch who used the textbook, "Minna no Nihongo".
Our textbook was, "Yookoso."
IMHO, it's one of the best Japanese textbook (with english explainations) you can get hold of in the market in terms of comprehensive grammer and vocabulary explainations as well as everyday conversation tips and grammer structure, etc.
My friends and I compared both texts side by side and we all came to the same conclusion.

I went to JCA and Pyaess to enquire on their classes today.
Please correct me if I am wrong. It seems that it will cost about $1000 to complete E1, E2, E3 and E4 with Pyaess (Takes about 1-year) while it cost around $400+ to complete Elementary level with JCA (Also takes about 1-year). Is there really such a big difference or I calculated wrongly?
The only thing is that JCA accepts enrolment for the regular course (1 lesson per week) only in January. Miss it and you will have to wait till next year.
However for those who don't wish to wait so long, there is the intensive class (2 lessons per week) starting this coming June.![]()
