Hi. I am now looking for a face highlighter to make the cheek bones, under eyes etc to be more radiant and more 'prominent'. I'm interested in Shisedo PN Color Veils but find the shimmers too little to give the effect. Does Shu uemura or other brands offer such highlighter? Pls quote the price too if possible. Thanks
What kind of highlighters are you looking for? Creams, liquids, powders?
Generally, highlighters make areas look more prominent and 'higher'. In contrast, darker colours for contouring make the area appear to recede into shadows.
Generally, highlighters are apply on cheekbones, nose bridges, and along the brow bone.
For me, I use loose shimmer powder, the sort you can find from Becca and MAC quite easily. MAC's cream colour bases are also easier to use because they're natural, but they can tend to be a tad oily. Occasionally, I just resort to using a sparkly MAC eyeshadow like Shroom out of laziness.
I would discourage applying a highlighter under your eye area because highlighters draw attention to areas and make them appear larger than they really are. so if you highlight your undereye area, you might end up emphasising any bags you have. Instead you can try YSL's Touche Eclat which 'hides' the shadows caused by eyebags. it's NOT a concealer though! But it's a great and extremely popular highlighter for your entire face.
As with most recommendations, the product prices can be found in the thread pinned-up above. If you can't find the price, just look for the makeup counter's number, give them a call, then update the price for everyone's benefit!![]()
Consider Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Bricks![]()
hiya. thanks. i'm looking for a powder type. i have the guerlain cream meteroites highlighter & the guerlain meteroites but find them to be slightly unnatural. as i dont have eye bags or lines, its okay for me to use them ard the eye area.Originally posted by ataraxia

hiye. could anyone teach me how do you apply highlighter on ya nose bridge to create a sharp nose illusion? i'm not blessed with sharp and tall nose but do not wish to resort surgery therefore make up is the only way to help me.![]()

lastly, which brand do you guys think it's the most effective and natural for applying nose bridge? thanks in advance.![]()
What a makeup artist (Jason from Trinity Tricolore) once told me is that adding shimmery highlights isn't natural because your face isn't naturally shimmery. Instead, contouring by creating shadows is more subtle. He taught me to shade the sides of my nose (the triangular panel) with MAC's WEDGE e/s and it really works! there's a visible difference in photos.
But of course, it's a lot easier to just rub something down the bridge of your nose. I use MAC's SHROOM e/s or KP's undertone lightup (the yellow one) when i'm lazy.![]()
I always use Shu Uemura Pastel Fluo in Waterlily to highlight. I use it along the nose bridge, under the eye, and a little bit on the forehead to add touches of light. It only makes a subtle difference in reality but it really add a glow in photos. It's not really glittery or shimmery, it's just brightening.
You can actually use a lighter shade of foundation which is not reflective to create the illusion. However, it's pretty tricky to resculp your features.
To made a more taller nose, use both highlight and contour, but remember to blend blend blend. You don't want to see a pair of chopsticks (dark contour) along the 2 sides of your nose bridge.
As Xue said, you can use brown eyeshadow (e.g, MAC wedge) and light slightly reflective eyeshadow and white blush (e.g, MAC shroom, vanilla, or MAC pastel fluo in waterlily).
For brow bone, use a brush and apply it directly under your brows.
body shop glow enhancer is quite good. the best part is i bought at $5 during the recent warehouse sale![]()
I use the Chanel Blanc Universelle before applying my foundation to subtly highlight/contour my face. Its a cream > powder product designed to be use as a base or as a highlighter. It apparently contains subtle shimmer particles, but I can't see them!
I use it under my eyes & on top of my cheekbones, across my forehead, on the bridge of my nose and just under my chin.
It's a mattifying product so it's probably best suited to norma-combination skin. Plus, it subtly smoothes over imperfections and makes ur skin feel silky smooth!
One thing, this cream is WHITE so its probably best suited for fairer skins.
ya, white cream/powder will enhance the features too. i just bought rmk's concealer n white powder to give that enhancing effects.
Not sure how *** is the Chanel one but it sounds great as well!
Sharon used this MAC powder i think it's called White Fx on me to highlight and it produced really great effectit's in a pressed powder form, which i think is really convenient to bring around. And it's translucent white with tiny shimmers, pefect for highlighting! maybe you girls can enquire at the MAC counter?
I really like my Chanel blanc universelle. I liked it so much that when i went to Paris I searched every Chanel counter for it -- all out of stock! So I ended up calling the Chanel hotline or something & getting them to track down any remaining ones. I ended up at some Chanel Boutique & bought 3 of them -- the max the sales assistant would let me purchase!
You should really try it! It makes the pores less visible too! And your skin feels so so smooth after using it~ I use it all the time when I'm in Singapore, but here my skin is too dry.
hi vinlongo, do report back on the RMK white powder!
i'm thinking of getting a highlighter too... don't know to get shu uemura water lily or rmk white powder? how much is the rmk white powder by the way? so it's called white powder? i've never came across it at the rmk cosmetic counters.
TIA!![]()
HIya, i saw the waterlily before i proceed to the RMK counter. The waterlily will not be able to give that kind of effect-make the nose appears higher/eyes appear nicer.
The waterlily only gives a subtle radiant effect. RMK white powder is something like some makeup artiste using lighter/darker foundation tone ard those area to blend n create the result. I think any white powder shld be fine but RMK have this for this highlighting purpose. Their white powder also seem to be more white than others n it's matt and doesnt look drying on the face when used with their concealer.
Pauline has mentioned abt the MAC powder. I havent seen it. Basically not into MAC hehehee. Anyway, the MAC powder is said to have slight radiant. I think for eye area is not bad but on chin/nose area, then it might not be that suitable if one doesnt have glitters on the face. Just IMO.![]()
COmes in 2 sizes-actual normal powder size is $49 (if rem clearly), else its $29 in the exact size of their e/s
