highlights draw light/focus aka attention to that area
dark/shadows recede your features while highlighters play up your features... giving the illusion of prominence or radiance. if you don't call that drawing attention...what is?![]()
I just wanna say that, that KA highlighting/shading/contouring pic... whatever you wanna call it, is a technique used. Pdts used can be matte and may not have to be shimmery. Use only a base of shade lighter and darker.
While if we're taking about highlighting pdt, it often contains specks to reflect light.
yes? no?
Oh, if you have big pores........ it will be safer to use matte pdt to do your contouring or use light diffusing pdt to minimise pores.

I think it depends on different company. Like for RMK, their white powder is used for highlighting (their concept is all over the eyes if not wrong, nose bridge, chin area) and its matte. Actually i think most in the markets have specks/shimmers to reflect the light. Give that radiant look as well?
hmn but i thought that if you have big pores and u use light diffusing products that have subtle shimmers in them, it will not let your pores seem to be larger? it draw attention to the face features because the area is more prominent, like dark shadowing is meant to tone down the area, make them look smaller. but not on skin pores because the product used is light diffusing?
VinLongo... I think you've misunderstood terms "light diffusing". Light diffusing it to cut away light. Pdt of such kind usually minimise pores, fine lines/wrinkles. This can be part of the concealing process or preparation before you put on a base.

Hmm well, I'm no expert, but at least to me, when I look at a person who's all made up with all the highlighting and contouring done, I don't find myself looking at particular areas of her features. It's a overall effect of brightening the face that I see...Originally Posted by sharon

After watching how famous MA Clarence Lee did makeup demo on Jacelyn Tay's show last night, i'm a bit tempted to get a face highlighter.
Think he recommended white highlighter for the t-zone and cheekbones. Anyone knows where i can find a white highlighter in pressed powder form (like a blusher) with slight shimmers? TIA![]()
Hi eternity, I read raves about fellow cotters using shu glow on in peach 42 as a highlighter for the undereye area. I checked out the stores and its actually a white highlighter with very slight shimmers. I didnt get it though so can't say for the performance. Perhaps u would like to check out the Shu thread? It cost $38.
Wendy I think shu has itor any white shadow will do... just use big brush
Thanks ladies, i have P Peach 42, but it has a slight peachy tone in it, am looking for a pure white oneDoes shu has a white blusher?
If I see correctly I think they doOr you can use beigy tone cos white might be too harsh.
Shu P Peach 42 is something I’ve always wanted to get but didn’t eventually. The MA recommended that to me and did a demo on me, I think it’s good. All her colleagues used that according to her. I believed she’s Shi Hua, the ex-MA at Tangs. I did a review somewhere here, I hope to make this mine one day.
Wendy, you didn’t like it?
P Peach 42 seems a bit weird on my t-zone, can't really tell there's a difference, probably because of my uneven skin tone. But i like it undereyes though
Wendy, drop by shu counter just now n saw that they really have a white blusher!![]()
it's P silver 91 IIRC.... looks pure white to me... hth![]()
Can Stila's All Over Shimmer powder be used for highlighting?
Yup. Maybe eternity, you should check out Stila's #7 AOS powder. It sounds like what you're looking for.
