I received a call yesterday to go down for a Financial Planner job with fix basic $4k and commission around 10k. I always think they are fake and no such thing as easy job. So anyone from this line is earning this much??
i understand that some commission based jobs are rather tricky.
1) you have to meet certain targets to claim your month's worth of commission. e.g. baseline is 3k and you did 2.5k so you cannot claim any of the 2.5k
2) if you don't meet target for 3 mths you lose the job.
3) u probably can earn a tidy sum in the initial stage by aiming everyone you know... but your contacts will dry up unless your clients introduce more clients for u.

so far i heard abt this in sales line, might work the same in this area. but i think it's acareer if you are very sociable, loves making frens, sound sincere and can endure cold calling.
Hi,
I will be joining Prudential as FSC to sell bancassurance at Maybank. Does anyone here know anything about this job? I was in a different industry previously and this is all new to me. As per my hiring manager, I will be stationed at one of the branches. Thanks:-)
Tied agencies do give basic pay, ranging from $1k to as much as per said $4k. However, the $4k is usually reserved for experienced FCs - or if the hiring manager is willing to undertake the salary for the new consultant. More often than not, the manager bears the risk of paying back the basic salary (to the company) should the FC be unable to hit the prescribed targets.
For FSCs stationed in banks, most of them would be paid a basic and some comms should the targets be met. These bank FSCs normally get a higher target as they supposedly would have "walk-in" customers as compared to FSCs from agencies. You should be selling Prudential products should be in from Maybank.
Commissions wise, like in most sales jobs, most definitely there is a chance to hit $10k or even more. It all depends on how hard one is to work for it.
Cheers![]()
but bear in mind that if you start from the people around you, you may end up losing more friends.
there are many commission-based jobs. Like B2B sales, so unless you have a wide network of friends and you don't mind losing a few... good luck with the financial planner career!
Why will u lose friends? If they are truly your friends, they won't just not befriend u. Might as well do without these friends. I have friends as Financial Planners but never once did I stop befriending them because of this. They did ask me to buy from them but never have they hard sell to me.
elderflowertea: of course it depends on the f. planner's tactic of sales. I too have seen a few, You are lucky that your friends doesn't use the hardsell tactic on you- iit's extremely annoying. Have u had people who aren't your friend, but suddenly befriended you just because you have common friends and she wants to push products to you ?
Regardless, a lot of people have take on this job, and only few really succeed (flair for talking, knows what you are talking, huge client base). I think my only advice is get use to rejections and not dream about the commission when you first start.
Nope. But I have friends whom I wasn't close to just contact me suddenly one day to sell products. But that's okie for me coz the person didn't hard sell. I even let him put my name down as one of the person in his contact list to hand to his manager. I don't mind helping people, especially friends out.
Those who hard sell are people whom I saw at the MRT stations and I don't know them at all!
Wow! Sometimes really cannot say something too early. Just say no one hard sell me something, then this person keeps trying to ask me to join them. Argh!!! Sometimes, it's really so hard to reject people yet wanna maintain good relationship with them.
No harm trying right? They can't possibly cheat your money, nothing to lose at your end!
