I took the bridal course about 4 years ago. the make up artist was Marcus. But my class only got very few students, so normally he would demonstrate on one student, half face. then we'll work on our partnet.
Honestly I thought the course was more relevant the beginning part, where you learn contouring and base. Then the rest is color application for e/s, lips etc, which is not very useful for someone who is familiar with make up.
Worst was the hair. Bridal make up does include hair, but the course was horrible. They only teach a few "old fashion" hair style.
i'm not in the beauty industry at all. I took it up then just for interest.

i graduated from cosmoprofm abt 3 years back
in my opinion, i felt i picked up alot on makeup AFTER cosmoprof. i learnt from internet and hands on etc
but gotta admit im thankful for cosmoprof cuz i am where i am today thanks to em
for 2 reasons
(1) cert name. alot of ppl will always ask for mua frm a qualified schools and as much as most of us are aware of cosmoprof, top2toe, school of makeup etc.. most ppl out there are only aware of cosmoprof.'
(2) i found the lessons dull for me , cuz they were too basic for me. bt the basics are always the fundamentals
for those who always ask "how do u get contacts after you graduate?"
here are some of my tips/suggestions:
- when you feel ur good enough to be a freelance makeup artist, start with TFCD projects,
TFCD means you do makeup for free on a model with a photographer. no one gets paid, eveyrone in return, keeps the photos for their portfolio.
- once you're stable and ready to charge people, start up a blog etc where you can post photos of your work. i started off with a blog just for my personal use and then slowly ppl started posting commetns and qns and i made it a makeup blog for the startin of my career and then now i have my own website.
-namecards! Once you feel comfortable enough to be called a professional makeup artist, print out namecards and start passin it around to friendsm, family etc. give them 2-3 cards cuz they might end up meetin a fren who needs a mua etc..u never know
-if you're more into workin at a coutner, look through newspapers frequently or sign up at job agencies. up till today every day i get notifications for beauty consultants vancies. bt of course im nt interested. i applied 2 yrs back.
when you sign up for those agencies online, make sure you choose the type of job that interest you so that they dotn email you random other jobs.
Hope these helped

can i know how much does it cost to learn at school of make up and cosmoprof? plus all the cosmestics. brushes and tools.
YourMother: I took the Diploma in Professional Makeup Artistry, that costs $3600++ and comes with a whole traincase full of makeup. Eyeshadows, lip palette, brushes etc..
The rest of the price listing can be found here :http://www.cosmoprof.com.sg/makeupacademy.htm
Why not try carrie academy? I think it's prettygood. The trainers are fun, ethusiastic and most of all, I heard that alot of the graduates are either a freelance make up artist or a professional make up artist. Moreover, they have a Carrie Models which is like another arm of Carrie academy, which means that students who have graduated have a chance to be a make up artist for fashion show etc.
i think cosmoprof is better if you already know your stuff but want to be professional and acquire the diploma to work as a pro MUA. i say this because Cosmoprof is recognised internationally and the school of make up is to me, for people who dont know how to do makeup in the first place and need to have more smaller classes so they can learn better. If you intend to work in Singapore with your dip then the school of makeup is just fine i guess.![]()
totally agree with you. i intend to start next intake and ive done my research to the core and im set on cosmoprof because i intend to work overseas so a cert from the school of makeup to them would be a joke. cosmoprof is the only makeup academy that can stand a chance working out of singapore. (of course, if you already have the talent, lol)
GRACE DIANA, STOP ADVERTISING FOR YOURSELF. YOU'RE THE GM THERE, WITH DISGUSTING ATTITUDE, AND CLAIM TO BE THE BOSS.
I was initially very keen on Cosmoprof, but the jokers working there dont know their stuff, couldnt answer my questions about modules, duration of class etc. Yes, well-known school, but many have commented teachers from other schools are better.
I graduated from School of Make Up, and I feel that the teachers there are good at teaching make up. But not so much focus on hair styling. So students are generally weaker in that area.
Does anyone know how we can get contacts of photographers who are beginners and want to build up their portfolio?
I graduated from The School of MakeUp very recently and in fact I am the latest batch.
TSMU is more geared towards Fashion, lifestyle and bridal makeup
while
Cosmoprof is more towards stage and theatre makeup.
It all boils down to which school of teaching is more apt to you
as I believe each and everyone of us have different learning approaches.
Attend both schools public seminar to have a feel of how the lessons are conducted
May I know TSMU use what product? Especially eyeshadow and foundation. My class will start in June. Not sure should I buy those product by myself or purchase at TSMU.
