hi i posted the below in another thread but will like to hear advice from the HR ppl here
i have a question.
I received a job interview offer today. however this co rejected me previously as they told my agent i have good experience but too expensive for them.
But now 2-3 wks later, they are offering me interview chance again.obviously they are unable to find someone with the skills they want at the lower budget they were looking for previously. i asked the agent what's their budget, she said it's open.
and now i think the expected salary which my agent told them i want is too low because she told them negotiable but i am willing to only go down 100 bucks lesser.
why do you think the co wants to interview me now? trying their luck to see if they can get good value for money...?
anyway i am very sure they will touch on the salary during the interview. how should i answer if they ask me about it..because i know they feel my salary expectation is too high but yet i am not willing to go down too much(at most 100 bucks lesser than my stated pay) and i am quite interested in the job scope. what's the best way to answer so as not to jeopardize my chance to be offered but yet won't let them shortchange me? if i state an amount say 4.5k negotiable, do companies think negotiable is going down 300bucks or more? I am willing to cut 100bucks only, should have stated higher expected pay..regret now
the agent even said the HR manager cross me out first but my resume somehow got to the hirng manager who like my experience but wrote a comment "too expensive" and they ask my agent why i ask for so high salary. actually my stated pay is already 400bucks lesser than my last drawn...i really hate it when companies ask me down for interviews knowing they have no budget but still want to try their luck on an experienced person.
Anyone from working in Hr Dept. Currently im working in finance dept for 10yrs, i would like to make a change and switch to HR doing payroll. Will there be any chance since i dont have any experience. How the pay wise. Do i need to get any Hr cert. Pls advise any kind soul. Many Thanks.
Hi everyone!
I am currently in a dilemma, just feel super confused. Need some insights here. I got an interview today for a HR officer role in a foreign bank,it covers finance within HR and my interviewer explained to me that it will be largely finance based.
Now my dilemma is that although i have a banking and finance degree and have worked in banks before,my passion lies in a people oriented industry for eg I am interested in areas like NGOs,social enterprises or the social services industry pertaining to organisation development, diversity and inclusion etc.
I kinda feel finance is not exactly my cup of tea,but the lady told me that this job does give me a good working exposure and there r ppl working in this role but get internally transferred to other roles should they apply within the bank.
My question is I am wondering if i should take up this offer if it comes along my way or should i keep searching for the industry i want to work in?
What are the chances of moving into different roles within the HR dept?
Sorry for the long post, hope to get some insights from people who r in this industry?
Bumping this thread up..
Has any cotter switched career to HR without any experience? If I have a degree but it's not related to HR, should I take up courses first? In a dilemma because I really don't know where/how to start..
Please offer your advice. TIA!
Maybe you can get your boss to send you on some courses regards to HR?
I have not switched jobs yet, just thinking of a career switch to HR and how I should go about doing it..
I did a switch to HR without any experience. So i took up afew administrative courses and keep upgrading myself to the next higher level. Its really tough to study and work at the same time. But i managed to pull through and i've been working in the same place for the last 4 years.
There are lots of programs from HR certificates to degrees depending on your need and capability. Studying part-time and working at the same time is tough, but in the end it will be worth it and beneficial to yourself in this competitive world right now.

hi
is the Bachelor of Human Resource Management awarded by SIM University recognized in the HR industry?
anyone currently taking this degree?
Actually for most companies, most degrees/certs are recognised. HR Managers look at experience more than anything else. Gain some experience by starting as a HR Officer first, then slowly move up the ranks.
