Pauline: Good luck with your interview with Singtel. My friend is working in the marcom dept over there.
Thanks dearOriginally Posted by silvercloud
I'm thinking if i need to dress up proper office attire for the interview? It's a friday and i've got a hot date after that, might have to bring clothes to change then
is taking diploma in mass comm with mdis not as recognised as taking with polytechnics?
It is best to dress corporate (i.e. suit or at least a blazer) for the interview. All the bestOriginally Posted by Pauline
I usually wear pants with blazer, and either wear a cami or tank inside. So later can remove blazer and still be fine for nights out.
It depends on the employer. Most companies in the private sector wouldn't bother where you got your diploma from...as long as you perform well in the interviews.Originally Posted by stellazeex

I'm from Murdoch Uni in Perth and currently working in fashion industry![]()
How about degree from TMC( Monash uni- BA in mass com specialising in journalism)?compared to mass com degrees from ntu,sim and mdis? r the former better?
I think most Communications degrees is more on critical thinking as mine focused on that too, rather than the practical aspects (i.e. unlike maybe singapore's poly?). Can't compare since I studied in Canada, don't really know the singapore system.
ic. thx!! *smilez* but'd the employers prefer local mass com degrees to foreign ones?
Hi all I'm currently taking mdis adv dip in mass comm and would be furthering my studies in Oz soon. I'm thinking along the lines of Murdoch Uni,UWA,RMIT. No idea which is better though.
Maybe UWA? I know of at least one company which has blacklisted graduates from RMIT, due to some incident years ago about students over there being able to buy the degrees.
I was a Mass Comm grad, and my friends and I are in a wide variety of fields!
Some are in TV journalism, some in radio, some in print, some in advertising, some in PR, some in MarComm, some in Marketing and Business Development. So u can see it's not necessarily limited only to the media industry.
I have been working for about 5 yrs ****, and I can say that employers do not have a specific preference for overseas or local grads.

Thanks. I'm leaning towards Murdoch uni. How employable are Murdoch uni grads?
Also, is it better to study something practical like PR or follow your interest and take up Media Studies?![]()
