Hi there, I would say the first important step for acne to clear up is to use a good cleasner.
I'm using Avene Soapless Gel Cleanser that is gentle enough for sensitive skin and it helps treats young problem skin. With its thermal spring water, it helps to purify the skin and regulate oil secretion.
If you do use any makeup, do remember to remove your makeup thoroughly at the end of the day. Makeup that is left over on the skin can cause clog pores, resulting in more pimples! I've always been using Biore makeup remover which I find it quite good but might be a tad drying for me now. Their gel remover and water base remover might be good for oily and acne prone skin.
Use a light weight moisturizer that is non-comedogenic (does not clog pores) and dermatologist tested. I can't remember what products I use in the past. I use whitening products I think and none related to acne treating products. =x So I reckon it is the cleansing part that helps to reduce my acne.
But currently I'm using Neutrogena Water Gel which is good cos it's really light weight!
Oh and, using an effective pimple cream will also help!! I used to use Oxy and it helped for awhile but stopped cos I sort of become allergic to it now. Now, I use doctor prescribed lotion on days when I have breakouts.
Be patient cos it took me about 3 to 4 years for my acne to be in control?
If you have really bad acne problems, I would suggest you going to a dermatologist and have some oral medication which will helped greatly!
