Lack of Bags in Singapore

After walking around, I've come to realise that the bags in Singapore tend to revolve around the same style.

It gets quite boring after a while when you walk around and see the same bags everywhere.

Let's exclude the branded bags but it seems like it's hard to find decent-looking ones in Singapore !

Yeah I agree that bags here are all quite similar ibn style..usual non branded bags are perlini and mel, st louis, fly etc...they probably import from same source.....really wish that there were more selection of bags sometimes an at an affordable prices!

my sentiments exactly! tts why i'm still carrying my tatty tote!!! .. shall try online for bags maybe? any good online sites ?

Actually not only for bags, but we should have more choices for clothes and shoes as well. Every shopping mall we go, we'll see the same shops selling the same items. I'm glad that nowadays we've slightly more choices for clothes ever since many people are buying from blogshops and internet shopping in overseas sites.

The higher end bag were all similar design, the lower end bag were all imported from Thailand...lol

yes.. 2 weeks ago i was urgently finding a office bag as im starting new job.
cant afford branded bags and didnt want to pay more than $50 for a bag
i went bugis junction, bugis village, PS, vivo (all too common or ex)
online bag blogshops (no variety)
online taiwan spree (too long waiting time though i saw many that i like)
then i found 2 bag shops in far east... cheap and nice and look ex

for non-branded bags in singapore, how much are you willing to pay?

the maximum i will pay for non-branded bags is $80 but usually decent looking one is above $70.

bags priced between $25-$50 are usually so-so looking/looks cheap.

i wish we have more options...

I do find all the bags very common too. You can always see alot of people carrying the same bags in singapore along the road.

i guess it's because spore is a very small market. too small to attract alot of brands to set up shop here. To get something different from what's on offer here will be to buy online or when one's overseas.

Bags and apparels here are limited and pricy.

My theory is that doing retail business here is too ex (rental is crazy!!) so best way is to buy from online shops. And shop till you drop when you are overseas since Singaporeans love to travel!!

But I was accompanying my friend on her bag hunt. We managed to snag something basic and decently priced from Nine West and Aldo during GSS.

I totally agree with you. The style of handbag in Singapore is nearly the same.

It is difficult for you to buy handbag. So in Singapore a lot of people choose to shop handbag online from China.

Agree with all here. Sometimes I find myself carrying almost identical bag as everyone walking around. A little malu.

Perhaps we can look forward to local bag designers coming up with more interesting designs rather than those usual-boring-bags from thailand and taiwan. Maybe then it wouldn't be that cheap 25-50 but slightly more, would anyone buy then?

haha can check out soon lee and those quirky shops at Haji Lane, I came across some I really like =) but I do agree most branded and non-branded look almost the usual style :S
