Does Apple Garde prevent vachetta from patina-ing?
I dont like dark patina and would want to prevent my bag from darkening.

I read from TPF that some gals use it and the already darken leather actually went from darker to lighter by about 2 shades. I don't how true it is but when I tried on my vavin, the handle actually does look like it lighten abit (don't know if it's subconcious).

Anyway, I am going to spray it on my new Palermo tonight. Wish me good luck.

Then u may or may not have to pay custom gst. when i bought last month i used vpost. not sure if they allow sprays now

Hi, Thanks for sharing the info.

S$26.98 is quite reasonable. Buying just the kit and ship by USPS Priority Mail would cost US$33.70 at luggage-and-leather.com.

I am very interested to buy from leatherstuff, but am afraid but problem with the rain and stain spray being held up at custom.

Why don't you try buying it at the shop in Sg. Save you the trouble. I bought the last 3rd bottle and probably there's still 2 bottle to go. According to the shop owner, he don't know when he will bring in another batch.

I've bought the apple guarde spray, but how do we spray it in the correct way, especially the internal lining? Will it stain the bag if I accidentally spray out of the leather area?

Hi suki_desu, what bag are you using the spray on? As in, is it full leather like Chanel, Miu miu, or is it canvas with leather trimmings like most LVs?

What I do with LVs are I spritz the spray GENEROUSLY onto a piece of dry clean cloth, then rub onto the leather parts to spread evenly.

For full leather bags like my Chanel, I spray and literally "drench" my leather bag with the protectant, let the leather soak up the protectant, and wipe off any excess.
And Nope, didnt stain the canvas whtsoever..

After drying, they become very very delectable!
These are how my bags become after cleaning (but I didnt use the Apple Guarde. I stole a cheapo protectant from SO's car which worked JUST as well, if not better... because not as greasy as Apple)

See how white and pale the vachetta is

My 5 mth old Roxbury Drive maintaining her pale even "tan"

    Hi Amelyn~
The leather protectant I used can be bought from most car or Home-fix shops.
    It looks like this

and the best thing is, only cost $7.80! Freaking cheap compared to AG ones..
and I prefer this cheapo one to the AG one cos the AG one was greasy.

If you wana buy AG, www.interesthing.com has the full set now - the spray and the leather cleaner + conditioner. Spray is protectant, as the name suggests, to protect after you clean and/or condition your bag

Thanks Frenchkitty for sharing, will try your method soon. Guess I won't be wasting the spray on my chanel, I didn't treat it too well in the beginning, too late to do anything now. I'll be using it on LV bags, those with thick handles are easy but it's a headache when comes to bag like neverfull or the internal linings.

    Thanks to Frenchkitty!!!

I just got my apple garde spray today...and i forgot to ask the shop owner how i should apply it on my bag. So, i went to google for methods online...and i found out that this apple garde screwed up the bags of some tpf-ers when they sprayed it on!

it got me so worried that i didn't dare to do anything to my new tivoli pm...until i looked upon this thread! thank u again, Frenchkitty!

i tried your method by spraying the apple gade generously onto a piece of soft cloth before wiping it on my bag! the more i wipe it around, the more even it looked! and that is, when it is wet!

it has been 4 hours since i applied the apple garde and i can already see that the colour has lightened up by quite a fair bit!!! I'm the happiest girl now!

anyway, how many times do u gals apply the apple garde? the shop owner told me to let it dry for 24 hours before applying the 2nd coat. After waiting for it to dry for another 24 hours, the bag is ready to go out. Is it true?

I use apple garde and I use spray on method. I am concern about spraying on cloth and then rub on the leather. The purpose of spray application is, it will absorb since leather breath. I spray as if misting the bag, you have to control by moving evenly over the area you spray. I use cloth to apply on odd angle. I spray lightly, let dry overnight and run thru once more. I also got it from interesthing.

Instead of typing how I spray all over again, u can read here

    hi girls.
i have a few questions i need to clarify

i have the apple garde and also the apple conditioner
1)which one should i use first?

    2) i am using it on my neverfull MM and my vachetta is starting to patina a little.. there's some dark spots and slight dirt.. will the conditioner or spray able to clean those off?

    3) should i use the conditioner and the spray or actually just 1 will do to make it lighter and protect it?

    4) i am concern with those metal parts on the bags.. will the spray or conditioner "hurt" those parts?

    5) has anyone tried to clean the neverfull before? any other advice?
    TIA!!

    HELP ME!!!

Hi Amelyn, I'm also in my learning stage, but you can read coffee's blog given above for what are the things to do and avoid when spraying your leather garde.

this was the reply that i've received from them:

Shipping charges outside the US are $45 USD for up to 4 pounds shipped via USPS Global Priority Mail.
Orders over 4 pounds are calculated on an individual basis.
The 4 oz. Apple Leather Care has 4 ounces of the product in them and weigh 5 oz. total each. According to your email, you are interested in the 5.5 oz. Apple Garde Rain and Stain Repellent and the 4 oz. bottles of Apple Leather Care. Four of the Apple Garde and four of the 4 oz. Apple Leather Care would be the limit for the four pounds. This would have a total cost, including shipping, of $93.00. Please let us know if we can help you.
    Thank you,
    Customer Service
    Leatherstuff.com
so the best way to order the spray from leatherstuff.com is through direct shipping? since vPost and Borderlinx do not accept aerosols
