i buy a bag because i like the design and it catches my eyes, but definitely not those imitation that openly states the brand name or logo on the bag, inspired by.... i can accept it.
I am not those people who will spend a bomb on bags. I always think that it is not necessary to spend a bomb on these things in order to look good on yourself.
acutally i think so too previously too..
but as all the colleage around u are wearin branded.. makes one wish to get one too..
but i would rather not have branded than to have imitation.. very embarrasin if found out..
I would buy "inspired by" bags but not if it is a fake but still has the brand stamp on it.but for me, what I go for is the design, be it branded or not.
Sometimes it's really due to peer pressure. I have a colleague now who buys replica of gucci, chanel, tods and coach. Couple of us realised it but didn't say out if not she will really lose face..but some colleagues who don't know , asked her how much and where she got it, she said she bought it online but refused to reveal the pricings...
luckily she didn't get Lv replicas cos there are many LV experts in my company...
To each her own. Each side can justify with their endless reasons and each will bear due credit or logic. I give kudos to the one who dares to wear a fake / replica and tells you outright that it's not the real thang![]()
Does this look like an 'inspired by' bag? I saw some bags with the same silver hardware (handles) in Topshop. I don't think Topshop is the most original brand; I won't be surprised anyway since other names like ZARA also 'copies' big names. Even Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga are doing quilted bags![]()

Glossie: That's a nice bag? where did you get it? thanks
Yuh, I mean, design is one thing. But when you start copying the trademark portions, that's imitation. Like say, the Birkin bag shape and size is really functional and good, but when inspired-bys start crossing the line and adding the tiny lock, the strap... it just becomes an imitation.
Heh, I had lots of fun in China looking at replicas, and I am really tickled whenever I see Coach bags with Coach monogram fabric, yet that model doesn't exist.
starglightbear > Bought it from Le Vu at Central, 2nd level. 20% off $58. The body is black but the piping and handles are in brown.
how abt those online shop like nordstorm?
i remember reading it somewhere, that an author said "my handbag must be my style; i wouldn't want it to carry other people's names!"
i guess she was referring to LV, Gucci, Hermes...blah blah.
I will not buy imitations with the brand on it. But I will buy designs that are "inspired by", but not a total look alike.
on the topic of luxury branded bags, I totally hate those people who buy 1 expensive branded bag and carry them with every single outfit that they wear.
I have seen people who carry these branded bags that do not match the clothes they are wearing! Worse... some people carry nice expensive but they are so sloppily dressed!
Expensive bads does not equal fashion.
Everyone working singaporean can afford an expensive bag, it's just a matter of taking how many months to save up for it. So carrying an expensive bag does not mean anything nor does it shows the owner is great.

If am the one who poured over, I will apologise and I will tell them that I can afford that one and only gucci they have..
well, if they wear flip flops etc with branded bags, does it mean they are not qualified to take it? is branded bag really that mighty that u must be dressed in a classic way from head to toe? my idea is that if they can afford it and get a branded bag, why look at them in such a way? they own the bags and have their own freedom of matching what they like. of course others also have their rights to give their views on them. this is freedom
someone mentioned about mighty etc. this i agreed. doesnt mean one carry branded means she is capable etc. one who doesnt mean she isnt; at the end of the day, its the amount in the bank account that counts. i believe that most can get one LV with just a month salary.
