i bght it overseas, in taipei. An Anna Sui black doctor's bag.I dun think theres any Anna Sui in S'pore. Hhm...my bf bght it for me but i feelin v guilty for makin him spnt so much $$ on me..but then some ppl wld say spending $500++ for a bag is wasteful , compared to buying jewellery but jewellery u also dun get to wear it every day , right??

That's not too expensive, is it? What's the material and size? An Anna Sui piece of garment easliy costs more than that! I'd love to own a good-looking doc's bag. And since it's something you can't find in Singapore, all the more you should keep it! Lastly, it's a gift from the BF. Can't top this, dear girl.

Oh, and people place different value on different things. Whatever floats your boat, I say (pun intended in each and every way ) Go on, milk every buckeroo out of it!

i am not sure if the second hand branded store would take in anna sui, more like LV, Prada, Gucci, high end bags.

Yea. i agree.
hhm...its leather , size is not too big pretty small maybe can put an average size wallet and handfone plus tissue and lipstick . cos its a doctor's bag design so the opening cannot be open too wide. As it was the last piece so we kinda got a 10% discount for it, the lady said Anna sui no discount one and gave me a band for tieing hair one , with a signature Anna Sui butterfly. That wl costs ard $200. Leftover fr some promo thing.

Guess all this at that time makes the buy even more appealing.

2nd hand REAL branded bags, wallets etc.

Hi everyone...

Just curious about something. Been seeing many 2nd hand branded goods store sprouting out in many malls around. Went in to take a look and surprisngly most of them look quite ok. :wow:

Just wondering what i should look out for when purchasing bags from these stores, and whether is it advisable to get one from them. Would you all want to buy one from 2nd hand shops? is it like "uncool" or not trendy?? How much would u all pay for a 2nd hand bag? any guidelines? like 10% below the retail price?

Sigh... wonder how much i've got to earn a month to be able to buy first hand branded bags! mabbe i should go find rich husband and be tai tai

Pls pls gimme some advice on the 2nd hand bags. Clueless as to how to get a good bag and dun wanna waste money!

To be honest, recently I have been out to many of those shops with my friend cos she is selling her bags and the shop owners only offered them about 30% of the retail price for the bags.

Subsequently, the shop owners will price the bags up to 70% of the retail price. So, unless you are desparate, best is to hold off selling your bags to 2nd hand dealers.

Also, it may be a better way to buy the items off ebay/auctions. You would probably get better buys that way.

Hi Joycez,

I think it depends on the type of branded goods u are buying, sometimes, i will pay quite a lot for past season limited edition branded goods. i suggest that u look around these 2nd hand shops do a comparison before purchase. Sometimes, some shops cheaper and look newer.
I will usually scout around first. But sometimes very sianz, cuz when i went back to the store, the bag is sold already... so if i think it's around the price i can pay, i will buy it straight.

I would advise not to buy from 2nd hand shop especially its your first designer brand purchase.. Their authentical are based on their experience and expertise in verifying from customer.

I don't have experience purchasing with them though sometimes i really wish to buy a bag which i longed for and discontinued in market. But, i just can't help it to carry a 2nd hand, what if its super high quality fakes? I think i wouldn't die straight away...

Prices also depend on whether the bag is still available in market. And different brand have different price... if its chanel or hermes, of course you wouldn't expect a less than a or 2 years old bag or those vintage pieces to be that cheap....

Of course, getting a good bag also mean you got to make some research on what bag you wanna lemme, how much is that in market? Also have to consider whether is it affordable to pay such price for a old bag? The quality of the bag? I have actually seen alot of canvas LV bag such as *** and speedy where the canvas logo prints faded away, this means this bag has been used more than 5 years. If the logo faded away, what for pay for low price for a faded piece, right?

I bought my first Coach item - a Hamptons hobo - secondhand on Yahoo auctions. I paid about 70% of the retail price for it, and since it wasn't available in SG I didn't mind that it had been used before.

Then again, Coach is at the lower end of 'luxury' brands..

i buy both new and 2nd hand for my bag collection, some of these stores have great deals and the best part is you don't know what you'll find. have fun hunting!

some classic brands, i actually like the "used look" of it, so it has to be 2nd hand for me but i only buy from well established consignment stores/resellers so it helps in the authentication part.

LV bags always look better when they are well used and broken in, i don't like the light beige color handles of the new bags.

i would looooove to get hold of a vintage black box hermes kelly, i've been scouting ebay for these, i'm waiting for the right one to come along.

for bags that i'd prefer to be relatively new, if they look almost perfect i.e minimal scuffs, no stains.... i won't mind paying 30% below retail. but i prefer to buy 2nd hand for brands that don't go on sale, like LV, hermes.

for chanel, if it's classic, i don't mind. but seasonal ones, ii'll only pay probably 50% below retail. cos seasonal bags do go on sale at the store, i've gotten some of such bags before. the SA just don't display at the stores so it looks like chanel "never" goes on sale.

but how do you girls tell the authenticity of the bags? i don't really have an eye for such detail so i'm really afraid of paying for a high quality replica.. especially since they don't come exactly cheap either... still cost hundreds or more..

when i was in HK i saw some of these shops too, i.e. Milan Station. was thinking maybe in HK there are those pple who buy and sell to the 2nd hand stores to get the cash? haha my imagination is stretching abit.. i.e. those tai-tais or kept women who are given credit cards and they sell their new bags to get cash so that their spending doesn't get tracked (sorry OT here).
