which branded/ "IT" bag is an investment piece? Worth getting?

i know there's so many pretty bags around. Fendi spy bag, chloe paddington, ysl muse bag, hermes birkin bag, miu miu puffer bag, dior cannage bag, marc jacobs.. etcc.... but which one is really worth investing in? as you know, as season changes, the bag might have to go, in order for new season stocks to come in. And again, you've to start splunging.

so which one would you still carry in 10 years time?

i think a lot also depends on your personal preference and what you like. no point following trends blindly and buy something that you dont like and you dont use.

we all have different tastes and preferences. what we like may not be what you like.

my take is to follow/listen to your heart and buy something that will make you happy. thats most important, i guess...

Birkin and 2.55 are classics and have been around since forever, they don't exactly fall under the IT category. If you want something that is IT and classic at the same time (kinda ironic huh ) I will say get the Muse. Effortless chic anytime.

if you want an "investment" and carry them forever, these 2 are the best.

if you want a trendy bag that lasts for 2 seasons....get the muse.

see the balenciaga motocycle bag (is that what it's called?) last year....now it's so dated that it's even embarassing to carry it out ! i still see it on the streets tho....fake i think..

for something more affordable, i think LV's speedy is pretty classic. but i personally prefer the duomo.
and about balenciagas, i think the motocycle range is pretty classic too actually, they are constantly coming up with newer colours and leather variations. however, there are WAY TOO MANY fakes out there, it's just sad.

I definitely do not think that the B bag is dated (yet). I for one do not feel embarrassed at all carrying mine.

I think the B bag might just be a classic for its sublime leather as well as the lightness. And as long as there are still fakes around, that really actually says something of the status of the bag.

Current IT bags, me thinks, includes the Prada Gauffre as well as the Miu Miu Coffer. And not forgetting Chanel's Cabas.

^ Not a problem. I never felt any discomfort at all. Why should I be? I don't go for IT bags, because I don't have that kind of money to spend, so I can very well safely say that if I get a bag, I see it being well and alive for years to come. That's how I see it, imo.

If you go into other fashion forums, mostly based in the states, you will see that the B bag is still very much alive. In fact, I don't see it as the IT bag of now. It's almost considered a modern classic.

This is so fun, discussing about bags! Always a favourite topic of mine :p

Yep the Birkin 'should' be deemed a classic.. so it's always IT. Other IT bags were usually IT for that few moments only.. quite obviously, no? So I never saw the point of following trends.

Does anyone think the mini Kelly is so darn ugly? I like the shoulder bag that has a H for its clasp. Can't remember its name.

I know the B. Fendi medium bags, especially the patent ones, are all the rage now but I think it'll be more of a fad than anything else. 'Played' with both bags in the boutique, and they're oh-so-gorgeous and buttery soft!

Heavenlyn, I do have the picture. If you look back a few pages of the Balenciaga thread, you will be able to see my Twiggy. But now I want a city to add to the family.

Creepcake: I personally do not like the B bag. Especially those embellished ones. If you ask me, I find neither suitable for investment. I don't think there are any bags that are worth investing other than Birkin & Kelly. Or Chanel's 2.55. You need to get classic bags for investment. With the price hikes so often, LV can also be considered. I do think the current Groom collection is worth buying, if you want to resell in future years.
