Hey gals,
Do you think that the the clothes being sold online on blogshops are overpriced? For me, i think that they are not only overpriced but seriously over-priced!! Even for those most sought-after blogshops like BC & AE (though they manufactured their own clothing, most of them are just direct imitation of clothes of the high end labels using poorer quality materials perhaps than the high end labels?) Even when they use better material than average, they just charged even higher price with the same high profit margins earned and consumers are still at the "suffering" end? but i believe that given the price all these blogshops are charging generally, they could use/provide better quality material than what we generally received now instead of earning such a high profit margins by using/providing perhaps not the best quality of material they could afford with the price they charged with profits. These blogshops are charging like 3 times their cost price without passing their savings from not having to pay for rentals, wages etc to us the consumers but instead resulted in high profit margin for them ![]() What do you girls think? Do you think this blogshops are overpriced including those who manufacture their own clothes? Last edited by Korita; 02-07-2009 at 06:57 PM. |

i would say 50%of the shops r overprices. items sold at $10 in bugis get sold for over $20 plus online when they do not have to pay rental!

I don't think so. The quality at BC is not bad. And no doubt it's an inspired designs from other brands which most cannot enjoy, but the quality is not compromised with the price paid.
However, yes, there are clothings that other BS sells and we can get them at $10. Those are the over priced ones and the material is really not good. |

Its way over price.. if you buy directly from china wholesaler. Each pc cost around $4-6sgd only depending on the material type but blogshops are selling at $25-29sgd. They are making 4-5x in profit and the material is horrible.. if you were to wear those at home than its still ok.. would you wear those low quality clothes if you happen to work in CBD area..? I doubt so.

I feel that some livejournal shops do tend to overprice their stuff. After all, we can find those clothes in Bugis Street and Far East for a cheaper price, so it's not worth it to buy online. I'll only think of buying from those blogshops if they're on sale.

I think if the price is below $30, it's quite resonable. However, anything more than $30 is really not worth it, unless it's really something made of good material and other places are selling it for maybe hundreds.

some shoes and bags are seriously overpriced! they don't even seem that they worth that much either! plus, pictures can be deceiving! quality might suck after purchasing and there won't be any refunds or exchange. so i'd seldom purchase stuffs online, esp for clothes and shoes because of the sizings!

i think BC is seriously overpriced cos after adding postage, it's like $30+. furthermore, some of their designs are nothing to shout about. if i had the original piece bought at boutiques being mass manufactured by them, i would be damn pissed off.
but lots of girls, including me still patronise them because we don't have that kind of money to buy the original pieces. moreover they tend to launch so many colours of the same item across different collections, sometimes a top in one collection becomes a dress in the next collection. and girls end up buying the same piece of item in different colours or different cuttings. that explains why BS owners are able to finance their overseas trips and luxury items. i think they are definitely earning much more than the average white collar worker. |

i don't agree with you totally after reading your thread title. 1 bad apple doesn't mean whole carton apples are bad. if you think a particular blogshop is expensive then don't buy from them because you see in the end, it is the blogshop owner who suffer due to it's high cost settings.
there are other online store with reasonable prices eg. lleitmotif.net fabrikade grafithology i believe there are some others nice blogshop owners too. reading your post makes me feel downhearted and sorry for those who created owned and maintained cool blogshops. yes, i do agree with shopspree, the blog i recommended in another thread yesterday, their online clothes are selling from RM27 to RM42 only, so cheap, if u were to convert the highest of RM42 to SGD is only less than SG$18...maybe the postage is slightly high as it post from M'sia.....

Overpriced?? well i would say yes to some extent (esp) for those really terribly material-ed loots.
abt the self-manufactured ones..i think in a way we Are payin for their hardwork in sketching out their inspirations, choosing materials and colours..etc etc... but i dun mind if the piece is really pretty!! i''ll willingly part wf my $$ but then again, almost everyone will knw where its fr, or worse u might b caught in a situatn of wearin the exact same piece wf someone else at a situatn where u cannot 'run' away like dinners/functions!!! ![]() but imo, i think those designer labels are the ones who are seriously way overpriced just my worth .. im sure manufacturing cost is so much lower
