How do you store your earrings?

I have many pairs of earrings that are in plated silver/gold.When exposed to air for a period of time, it would tarnish easily.I bought an earring stand and had it placed on my dresser for some time.When I wanted to wear them, they became black/faded gold.

Problem is, I want my earrings to be neat n tidy (where I can see them immediately w/o having to search for the other pair), tarnish resistent and the entire storage process to be simple and quick.

Anyone can advise how you store your earrings?

er.. u can go to people park centre first floor and buy those hanger on the desk for earrings. like those pple selling those earring display..neat and nice

thks babe, are the earrings exposed to air when placed on the stands?
Coz i had an earring stand too, but as it is all exposed to air, it will tarnish.

I use those medicine storage boxes but with slight larger compartments

Got them from daiso or those value shops from neighbourhood areas for around $2

Orignally, thought we could have a seperate thread for purely storage of earrings as different people have different methods for storage - ie: earring stands, boxes etc and which would be the best method to prevent tarnish especially for those silver plated/14k gold plated accessories.

But, if there is already a thread on this, we should channel all comments there instead.

i put all my earrings w/o boxes in those medicine ziplog bags and put in a jewel box. those medicine ziplog bags can be bought from those shops selling plastic bags, think 100pcs for $2(max).

i hang mine on a rotatable earrings round stand. find this so much better compared to in the past where i just chuck all into a box. now i can see clearly what earrings i have and its all so easy to find and locate the other matching pair. this way, i won't forget what earrings i have also.

the stand can get a little dusty when you see from the top. but the earrings are ok though. i don't have a problem with my earrings tarnishing faster than keeping them in a box. so no diff for me...

Good idea! My earrings and chains keep getting tangled in a usual box!

Earring stands are convenient but the earrings will definitely tarnish or collect dust.

Maybe you can put your less expensive earrings on stands and for those that tarnish like silver, gold pieces, keep them in boxes.

i store them in individual small ziploc bags ( you can get them from those stores selling plastic containers etc like SKP). FOr necklaces/bracelets (which are more bulky items), i buy those $2 medicine box from the hardware stores (or even Daiso) as it can help to prevent oxidation. the reason why most jewelery tarnish when exposed is because they aren't real silver/gold and hence will oxidize. recommend that you put your jewellery in places with less moisture (bathrooms are definite no-go)
